My strategy for low BR building

I've been doing a lot of 1 table SNG's lately. I've been doing ok, but getting more 2nd and 3rd than first.

I then signed up for a sat tourney to work on my FT academy challenges. I signed up for a sat to the BLT, which actually pays out better than the single table SNG. (unless you take 1st of course, but with me, i was getting more 2nd and 3rd).

You can cash it in for a profit of 2.19 after they take their fee

The games are a lot softer and fishier than the regular SNG, and pretty easy to place in the top 3.

Is there something I'm not seeing here, or is this a decent strategy to get my BR up so I can start playing the $2 SNGs? I can see this as a better long term strategy (unless you're consistently taking 1st on regular SNGs.)

Also note, there are lower buy-ins to this tourney, .45 or so, but it only awards 1st the ticket, and 2nd your buy-in back for -.05 profit after their rake.

Yeah, I have nearly 5K points, mostly just from Ferguson's pro flop challenge. Very easy to do, and a lot of points.

Variance is killing me! I'm at least still breaking even, but I can't win a race to save my life!

Every time I push with a pair, and get a call with one overcard, they hit their overcard. Every time I push with AK, get a call with 77, no pair for me in sight. Every time I push with QQ, I run into KK, etc....

Ok, sorry about the whining, but it felt good to vent somewhere.

Another tip if you try this. When I converted the 2.20T into $, they only charged .01 fee, but when I saved up 3 wins for 6.60, they charged the full %5, so convert each time you get a ticket.

I would use the points as well to help build up the br. I don't think I could reley on freerolls and I would continue to do what you are doing. Sooner or later you will build up the br. Using the ftp sng learners is a good way to get into the fr the next month.
