I see a lot of players consistent do make strange betsizes, raises or reraises.
For example a 3BB bet would be 150 and they bet 143 or 152
They keep using strange sizes for me and is there any strategy in it? Or is it just to try and confuse or to annoy?

I don't get it and I see many players do this these days. I just stick to the normal sizes and not the odd numbers.

Has anyone any clue why players do this?

There is nothing strange but many do not mean anything I think it's more about disturbing

They are either using sliders or with the intention of intimidating opponents.

By those odd numbers, you cant tell exactly how many times the bet in relation to pot. It also makes the image of chips as if so huge because it would use now ones chips (from 1 - 9).

I thought about the slider too but they do it consistent to the same amounts.
But haven't noticed it at the pro's
If it gets disturbing then they have an edge I think.

Well, thanks for your input

They are most likely using the slider or have their settings on how much to open or raise, some of them have their own betting scheme that doesn't follow ABC poker betting scheme, so u have to adjust to all kinds of betting, and ask yourself always ask yourself this one very important question WHY? did some1 bet that much, or raised, or reraised.

A lot of people just like to use random #s kinda like phil laak , just to try and confuse/weird people out . I don't think there is a lot to gain from players who do this unless you can notice an obvious pattern.

I think some ppl do it coz they like to open around 2.5~bbs (cheaper steals, more likely to get called w/ good hands) and if you dont have your buttons setup u have to type the number. And if you already type it why not just make it look strange by adding single chips to the amound.

.... the funny bets are the huge donk bets that are like 7x the pot size.... player limps in, checks to river and then bets huge.... like, i'm gonna call a 40bb bet size to protect the 1bb i put in the pot.... either these are outrageous steal attemnpts or they flopped their set on the river....

not sure why they do this..... i suppose some people may call.....

i do love it though when i pick up the set on the river and some donk bets stupid-huge.... xmas

As somebody who doesn't do this, I assume it's the slider.
Most times when I try to type in the amount I am raising by, it already uses up half my time to raise by say 1000 instead of the default. Maybe not half, but the window starts beeping to alert me time is running out.

I assume these people are less anal and said screw it, the approximate range is fine.

Many people do it, it might confuse you some times, like bet ''666'' or something but it's usually bluff. Do not get distracted by such things. Just play your game.

Live or online I like unorthodox bet sizing personally, it wierds out people forcing them to step slightly outside of comfort zone , it makes hot heads lose there cool and second guess otherwise simple straight forward bet. I know that it can confuse though being a long time proponent.

That sounds plausible to me and could be the reason for doing this kind of betts.

Why the strange bet size?

Some people are raising a set amount 2.3x or 3.1x... Some sites let you set those as a button instead of the 1/4 pot, 1/2 pot etc.

One reasoning behind it is that the desired response may be the same between a bet of 25 or 23, so why risk more chips than you need to. Saving a couple chips here and there adds up over time. The goal is to get a certain response from your opponent, the trick is to learn where the line is that will get that response.

I saw someone do that in a tourney, and his raises stayed the same size even though the blinds went up.

They have adjusted their bet size in % age. Nothing special . They set any % pot or big blind.Like on post flop they raise 65% insteaded of half pot or pot raise. You can also do this.
