I've gotten up to the Final Step in the Step Prog for a Main Event Seat

I've been playing mostly Turbo 9 Player SnGs thus far (with one regular and one super turbo mixed in when that was all that was starting) and I am considering which of the options to Play for the final Step between the allotted 3 choices of Regular SNG, Turbo SNG and Super Turbo SNG.

Normally there wouldn't be a thread here and I'd continue playing the Turbos but the prize pool is different for Super Turbos than it is for Regular or Turbos.

The Regular SNG and Turbo SNG are both $2000 + $100 and pay out in the following manner

1st: Seat
2nd-3rd: Repeat Step 7 ($2100 Buy In)
4th-6th: Drop to Step 6 ($640 Buy In)

The Super Turbo SNG is a $2060 + $40 and pays out as follows

1st: Seat
2nd-3rd: Repeat Step 7 ($2100 Buy In)
4th-6th: Drop to Step 6 ($640 Buy In)
7th-8th: Drop to Step 5 ($216 Buy In)

Does the added benefit of a lower rake and more prize pool, thus allowing 2 extra spots to be paid out without affecting any of the higher place payouts make me want to give the super turbo a think?

It's obviously much higher variance but I'm also thinking that the level of play will probably be pretty high at the final step so maybe the low stacks and thus push/fold strategy will neutralize the edge Im sure the more experienced SNGers could have ... then again do I really wanna crapshoot in the last Step? Is it a crapshoot?

What do people think?

personally im not a fan on super turbo's

feels more like bingo then poker

since you have done very very well to get to step 7 with mainly turbo's i would suggest stick to what has got you there and good luck!

let us know if you make it to the main event, either way step 7 is a great achievement

Dang - we have a member who coaches super turbos but she is in Italy right now. I am not sure if we have anyone else here qualified to answer for you...unless I can get her husband in here.

I haven't played the steps, but from what I read you start playing and can't get anything but the top prize...is this right? I read in the rules that you can't convert into T$, or cash. Seems like once you start your money's gone unless you hit the big prize. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You can convert it into tournament tickets but I don't think there are any regular tournaments with a buy in of $2000.

OP, well done for getting this far! It is a great achievement in itself to get there. The payouts definately seem to favour going down the super turbo route, you are almost guaranteed to get something back from it but if you are not as comfortable playing them then you may need to put a little time into it and study them before you play it. As far as I know they do not have a time limit on the step 7 ticket so you may want to give it a few weeks of playing the small buy in super turbos before going for the big one...

what did you decide? FWIW I think in Super Turbo you will have to consider yourself an expert at dealing with extreme ICM and be 100% perfect with your push/fold ranges (as I would expect 99% of others playing them will be)

Not at this time from what I have seen.

IIRC You can convert the Step 3 ticket (Total Cash value $26, I've done this several times to play in SNGs), Step 4 (Total Cash value $75) and Step 5 (Total Cash value $216) can all be used for various SNG buy ins. All the others, from when I looked them up do not have games that you can cash them out.

(best of luck on whichever one you play in)

What do you do with a Step6 ticket once the MainEvent is over?

THere's a $640 buyin (I belive).. the 150seat guarantee MTT Satty to MainEvent.

As far as which one would I play if I were in your shoes.... idk... I've played a fair bit of Super Turbos so I'd probably go with that option (personally I'm not considering playing the steps past $215 anyways)

GL & hope you take it down (whichever one you choose).

Yup, you're wrong, lol. You can take the $26 at step3 & use it as a tourney ticket to play any $26 buyin (MTT or SNG)... same with Step4 ($75) & same with Step5 ($215)

When I read the rules/prizes they listed that the top prize would be ever changing. So my guess is when the main event is over they will substitute it out with some other type of prize.
