I had a rather bad run on stars so I took a break from the site, and they gave me a $2 sub-satellite ticket for the 12.5M tourney and I can hardly believe it but I made it through and am registered to play this weekend. I'm rather nervous....this is the first time I am playing such a high buyin tourney and I'm sure every pro on the globe is going to be looking for a slice of the cake...they will squash me like a bug!!!!

I am hoping some of you will help me out with some advice on how to prepare properly for an event like this. I feel like I'm up against a brick wall. Please help!!!!

I do so look forward to your replies. Thanks a lot, David

I know how you feel, Last year I played my 1st World Poker Tour main event and for 8 hours played against on of the top players in the world. I also played in the wsop against one of the top South American ranked female players. Its easy to be intimated by who you may play against in this tournament and yes you could be squashed as you said. The thing you need to remember is to not expect to much from this. Even a top professional is not likely to ever win this event. What you do have is a chance to enjoy playing against many of the best online players out there. Take your time each and every hand you play. Play a solid game but dont try to be fancy. Watch every hand and see what you can learn but also see if you can pick up what they are doing and what hands they have. dont take and big risk early on but if you have a read and the story the player is tell you does not make sense you can make that call if its not to much of your stack. Don't be afraid and just relax and enjoy it. Afterword, look over the hands you played and look up the players you played against. It could be interesting.

So why did I mention the players I was against? Well against the top player in the world I played a hand with that did not make any sense to me. Could he really have the hand he was representing? I just did not think he would play the hand that way. I re-raised him and got him to fold his hand face up. He had me and I bluffed him off the best hand but my read was dead on. I went with that read. Just knowing I played at least one hand with the best and was able to outplay him that one hand was worth the price of admission.

Thanks Luvepoker, very thoughtprovoking, and greatly appreciated. You have given me a different perspective on the situation. I don't feel nervous anymore...I just want to get in the and kick ass till their noses bleed:D

I wish you good luck and tear over the backside. Cool stars that give everyone a chance to try a free piece of this huge pie. Play tight aggressive style. Please note that this is a multi-day tournament. Focus on your opponents are at the table. Do not set yourself the task to collect a lot of chips in the first day of participation. And good luck in the remaining two days.
