Just a thought on some short stack(ish) play in MTTs I wanted your thoughts on. I was thinking if we have like 18-22BBs and are specifically in either CO BTN or BvB. If we are opening but never folding do u think its better to just ship it in?

I was thinking aspecially late on in MTTs when the blinds and antes are a great boost to our stack and by shoving we fold out a lot of the hands villains would shove over our open (thinking we were opening light from late positions).

When I first thought about this I was thinking this was silly as we are only folding out the hands that we beat and we are getting called when were crushed. However the more I think about it I feel often they will be reshipping and we are calling as 60-40 at best so maybe by open shoving we are taking a more low varience route, as w/e we open we were always going to stack off so by open shoving we pick up the blinds and antes alot of the time. But we get rid of the hands where BB ships over our open with a hand that we are 55-45 or 60-40 aginst and lose.

Also when we walk into a hand we still can suck out right :D

Next step is just to find a profitable range for this play, so any thoughts on this would be appreciated to. SO i guess pokerstove will be geting used alot next week.

Looking forward to your thoughts.

It depends on the tendencies of the player(s) acting after you.

If they are nitty, they will fold unless they have a monster, and therefore you may do better to put in a more modest raise in the hope of getting more action with your premium hands. You will also have the option to get away from your hand if they play back at you.

Against more adventurous opponents, your reasoning seems sound to me.

I have to agree with Egon, your range depends on your table. Figure out each player on the table, then go from there. If they're LAG, play tight, TAG, play looser. It can be a blessing sometimes to play loose poker against tight medium stacked players, because when you catch a big hand like AA or KK you can make the 'mistake' of trying to 'bluff' a loose bigstack's blind and really cash in.
