I bought a couple step 1 tickets through FTP academy, and ran 1 up to a step 3 ticket. I figure I have no money into it, so I'll take a stab at a MTT. What are some of the softest ones around? Time of day also?

Ya, the step 3 will let me into any $26 MTT or SNG.

Matrix SNG looks interesting. It seems like it would be lower variance. If I get sucked out on the bubble, I'd still be able to make my money on the other 3 tables. Anybody play many of these?

I did think about that. I don't know if I can play that long though. I think the biggest MTT I have done is a 45 man SNG.

I guess I am freerolling though. We'll see.

They are all usually at the same level of "softness", I suppose. And just to clarify, less players does not necessarily = softer. IMO your best bet would be the 35K or 28K guarantees that run every night @ 7 and 9pm EST, respectively. Great payout structure, large feilds that dwindle fast, and they are swimming with assloads of satty donks.

Never tried the Matrix at that level, but IMO Matriz sucks anyways. But that's just me.

Choose one with a small field, as variance will be ever so slightly less of an impact :)

i played like 50 of these ($26 matrix super turbo). they're pretty awesome, some players are just completely retarded (regs are solid, obviously). if you run super hot its awesome because you can win a bunch of money (and you get $ for having the most "points" or whatever), and if you run bad, you might still bink the money in one of them, which is kool because it turns your ticket into at least some amount of real cash.

Do the $26 matrix tournaments run that much?

when i was playing them, the 6m ones ran like every 10-15 minutes, the fullring ones slightly less often (but if someone registered 1st for one or the other, it would fill up relatively fast).

i think you can probably play like 20 a day if you were so inclined

I have the same problem billdogg. I have a step 3 and I'm not sure what to do with it. Thinking about the miniFTOPS #32. 6 max, knockout, super stack sounds epic.

Try early in the morning, the fields are smaller.

Fields are smaller yes.... but why do you think that is? And what the field consist more of then? More regs. during the day.

From reading OP's comments, I'm really not too sure what one to suggest. Is a 45plyr. sng the largest field size you've played in? Because if so... then a Tournament isn't the way to go??
If you do plan on playing a Tournament, the softest fields are definitely on the weekends & Friday nights. Play the $28Kguar.22:00, or the $18Kguar. at 01:00.
More drunks & recreational donks at night.... especially on the weekends!!! (< TONS of them!!).

Woo! I decided to try a Matrix SNG. My biggest cash to date. Dont make fun, all I did was usually $2 or $5 STT before I started playing cash games. I might have to try running those step tickets up and trying to cash again.

I can't say it was much different than the $2 and $5 play. It was absent of the 80/2 fish that go out real quick. Also, there weren't table captains calling with junk around the bubbble doubling up the shortstacks constantly. I think we all know how annoying that is when we're medium stacked.

It's a pretty unique system they have. It was basically split down into 5 $5.20 tournaments, with 4 STT, and one tourney that was just the matrix scoring.
