I think you made the right call on the Turn with the information that was available to you. You had to figure the big stack with two suited hearts cards. Little did you now, he was betting and praying for either another heart or a straight. He just happened to suck out with the 6H.

There was nothing wrong with how you played the hand really. You were miles ahead of most of the hands the short stack was shoving on that flop. If they did have a flopped flush or a 4-flush drawing Ace etc you still had 33% for the board to pair by the river, and you had a massive chip advantage so I think that was ok. As for the turn, nobody can really criticise anyone for calling with Quads, EVER! You just got extremely unlucky on the River. It's important to remember that when you sit down at a Poker table, you accept immediately that things like this are 100% possible, even if they are only 1% likely. We can get as angry as we want about any of these situations but in the end, this is what we all signed up for. 99% of the time your hand would have crushed both of theirs. That's the only thing worth taking away from this. Shake it off and get ready for the next MTT.

No idea if it would have helped, or even if it would make sense, but alternatively you could have 3bet the flop (increase) by 2*29k instead of call. Sort of semi-bluf. This would have made the odds for a straight draw bad (for villain). I notice a 3bet post flop makes players drop out of a pot, unless they really have a hand.
But the call by villain on the turn was very bad in terms of odds.
Maybe villain saw your shove of 3* pot size as a bluff.
Anyway:
- I think nobody would take straight flush draw into account in math, especially on this board.
- quads beaten by a straigth flush DRAW is just a bad beat caused by a bad call, nothing you did wrong.

You got your money in with quads. Nuff said. Nothing else matters.

You pay off a straight flush every time and smile doing it because nearly every time you will be winning and taking a large pot against a flush or full house.

To me this whole hand played out pretty normally.

MP open raises with a hand and two speculation calls.

You know they are speculation calls because they did not 3bet
preflop - unless they are trapping w superior hands to the OR's 99

3x bet size is fine - I don't think a 5x bet would have a different result
because big stack is still speculating w Ax suited and the SB is priced in.

All the money got in because the big stack put the OR on an overpair
and was happy with his flush and straight flush redraw.

This bad beat is such a rare event that I would just put it behind you
because I can't see how you could check fold the turn or river ?

Maybe....maybe the river if there was still betting and you put your opponent on that
gutshot straight draw card.

But I'm probably paying that off everytime !

Good luck !

I am confident that you really were not concerned with your game play on this specific situation.
I may not be a Psychologist,………….. But this lay person can spot a cry out for attention when they see one ……..lol
A bad beat is a bad beat no matter what hand you had at the time…….. It just SUCKS.
Now that you got it off your chest, get back into da game and CRUSH it. J

Freak accidend man, don't dwell on it and especially don't make any shifts in your game based on this situation. The chances of you getting in this position again are slim.

It does truly suck donk dick when it happens. :D

You got beat by one of two draws out there. This is extremely rare. You will only see the online most times but it can and does happen. You had quads. Nothing wrong with your play. He had 2% to hit that card.

i know that had to hurt. but the odds of quads losing to a straight flush are very low. that was just nad luck. 9 times out of 10, 4 of a kind is a winner.

Ouch that really sucks. But there is nothing you can do about this one. That's just really bad luck. You were set up to lose it all.

I once folded a set of 3s on the flop with 3 hearts (235) and big action from 2 villains. The turn was the last 3 and I kicked myself... until they flipped over their cards. One flopped a T high flush, the other one flopped a nut str flush. I was drawing dead on the flop.

Crap like this happens, but luckily rarely. Get them the next time.

This is one of the most unlucky things I have ever read. I know online poker companies use a random card generator, but sometimes I just can't help but feel that the person with the bigger stack always seems to hit the cards they need no matter how big an underdog they are! I can understand your frustration, you played the hand perfectly and just suffered a horrific bad beat. Chin up mate.
