Hi all,

During 2008, I played a lot of sit and go and multi table tournaments, as I found that I felt more comfortable playing these types of poker games.

However, in 2009, I want to focus more on my Ring Game (Cash Game) strategy. In your oppinion whats you advice for someone who has mainly played tournaments most of their poker life who wants to make a change to cash games?

Include anything like, bankroll rules, what tables to sit at, when to leave the game, different types of plays etc...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

James

Well that would be dependent on whether you plan to play 6mx or full ring.

When I made the initial transition I was getting caught out a lot with tptk type of hands, now in 6max thats not too big of a problem but in fr, you don't wanna be felting that type of hand.

Not sure if you were playing a typical type of SnG strategy but if you were, then you're gonna have to loosen up you game a bit more for cash games, most certainly in 6max.

Give us some more details if you're gonna choose 6max or fr, then we can be a little bit more specific as to how these games play.

What bankroll do you have? We can sort of determine what limits you can play at based on this info, but the more buy ins the better as that helps with tilt control. A bare minimum of 20, I usually have in the region of 40 for the particular level I'm playing at if not more, but I'm a bankroll nit.

As I am a relatively tight aggressive player I will probably be playing more full ring table 9-10 players. My bankroll will be $200.

play speculative hands in position against people who overvalue TPTK.

In SNGs you are stacking off with overpairs and TPTK but you are too deepstacked to do that in ring, often even with 2 pr. That's a painful, expensive lesson. When a weak player raises you on the turn after you have shown aggression throughout, he's doing it with a nutlike hand.

only put about 5% of your bankroll on the table, and play within your limits. get up and take a break after some bad beats. otherwise you'll just keep reloading and playing dumb
