So I thought Id try out the sng 5.00 table with 6 players.

You have to get 3rd place to cash. After that everyone gets paid equally.

Everyone there was a tight player.

Once we got down to 4 people, it was the craziest thing Ive ever seen..

We were all getting short stacked because of the blinds and having to go all in every few minutes.

Needless to say I pushed with a flush draw and came in 4rth.

Ive never workd so hard for 5.00 in my life! And on top of that I didnt even get paid!

This was truly a grind.

I think Im going to stick with the 10 player sngs

Are the players at the 5.00 level this tough on the sites you guys play?

Maybe you should play more aggressive at such a tight table.

These are DON SNG's and are completely different to ordinary SNG's, they usually take longer cos everyone plays soo tight, specially round the button, I admit they are hard work, I play them now and again but agree that normal SNG's are a better format, for me anyway.
I wouldnt say the players are tougher in these but they may seen so so everyone, as I say, plays sooo tight.

I would play 3 or 5 table (27 or 45 man) SNGs. They have a lot of tournament type texture to the strategy. People play fast in the mid stages and approaching the bubble too. Also excellent practice for your eventual deep MTT runs. You will have 9,8,7,6,5,4,3 and 2 handed practice! Also a bunch of short stacked practice around the bubble.

They're tight because everyone wants to cash. Play a 10-man DON SnG, and watch what happens when it gets down to 6 players. NOBODY will want to risk their stack in even a slightly marginal situation when they're on the bubble. Nobody is making a move without AA or KK.

In theory these DON's sound easy enough. But for me it's just not enjoyable playing poker like that. You need at least close to 60% winrate for your bankroll to have a slow climb. I just dont have the time or patience for DoN's.

Shove wide/ Call tight (for obvious reasons).
Rookies tend to not shove wide enough & call down too loosely.

I too can't stand playin' DoNs. If you want to get decent at them, you should probably take a bit of time to study ICM spots during later stages & bubble play.

They are called double up SnG's. The top half get their buy-in doubled, the bottom half walk away with nothing. Everybody always got extremely tight when it got down to the last person, you are either pushing all in preflop or folding.
Personally I didn't have much success in this kind of format. I know a lot of people that can profit from it regularly...

I wouldnt play loose if I were you... you won 8 in a row playing loose? How loose?

IMO, best strategy for DON SNG is to sit tight early doors instead of bleeding off 10-20% of your chips trying to see flops...

Then later on you can get aggressive on the bubble...learn when to shove and who to shove against.

Shove in position against the medium stacks, the ones who think they can just ride it out and cash.

Also, shoving from the blind when you have limpers is another good option, as late on, people tend shove if they have a good hand, and fold if they have crap... they may limp wih KJ KQ J/10 or a weak ace, and if you shove, chances are they will fold...(assuming you have been watching their play)

Thats just some thoughts from me
