Hey all.

I will begin playing SNG's (along with MTT) in the next little while. Im currently brushing up and learning with the help of a few books. I just read Moshmans SNG book and will re-read it while taking down notes before I start.

Just to note, Im not a beginner to poker or SNG's, nor am I an expert since Im reading to get help from an expert :p Im just an intermediate that wants to become a winning player. (who doesn't?)

Ive done a little thinking about 6 man vs 9 man tables, which being better from a long term point of view. I noticed one thing. In a 9 man table, if you win 25% of the time (lose 3, win 1) you walk away in the green. If you do this on a 6 man table, you walk away in the negative. (BTW, this is referring to FTP, I will also play a little on PKR. I dont know if the payout structure is different there)

Which do you suggest? Pros, cons?

Thanks, sorry for the long post.

The strategy is the same. The 6 man table is like a 9 man table without the UTG positions. U can play more hands.
Turbo vs non turbo. Same thing to me.
Of course at non trbos u can be relaxed and w8 for good cards to come eventually. But the skill at high blind play if the most important thing that brings you profit.

I always play 9 handed - for some reason I've never done well in the six hand format, sorry I can't expand on that.
I play the turbo, unless I'm having a streak of bad cards, then I move to non-turbo to give myself more time to work with. Generally though, I find superturbo to be far too fast and non-turbo to take too long.

Gotta admit, I've never really done a lot of thinking about 6-player games but the points above stand - in either format, making good push-fold decisions in the late stages will be the most important thing.

As for turbo v non-turbo, that one's a no-brainer. You play whichever one your $/hr is higher at and in most cases that'll be the turbos.

ive played at both and won at both. personally i was winning more playing 9handed so i just stuck to 9handed. theres alot more opportunity to abbuse poeople on the bubble in 9handed games and you can cash more often. i was crushing 9 man for a 25%roi 4tabling over 1000 toiurneys
