Hi,

After only playing cash games I recently decided to play some MTT SnG, cause I would like to improve my tournament play.

Played pretty tight and stole some nice pots and managed to get ITM. But IDK really when to push/fold, and after playing cash games only I might be too nitty...

So is there some good tournament strategy guide in general that I can apply to the 45/90 man tubos, and maybe even normal tourneys aswell (although most of them has a starting field of like 5000 so don't really appeal to me..) ?

Also, how big sample for normal SnGs / MTT SnGs do you need to get a ROI% number you can trust?

Cause it seems like the variance in all tourneys are pretty sick.

Well, the 45/90 man turbo's are a lot less like normal tourneys than the 180 mans, but a lot of the principles are the same.

There are a couple strategy pages around, try pokerschoolonline.com, pokerstrategy and sngplanet

Around 1000 and you'll get a general idea, although obv it gets more accurate the more games you play.

My advice may be the exact opposite of what other people do but it's what I had to do to make adjustment from cash to SNG's and MTT's and I've seen a lot of success from it. I always believed in SNG's and MTT's it was always about preserving your stack....the whole as long as you have one chip left at the end of the game thing....but I recently read Lindgrens book on tourny's and he said the exact opposite....it's all about chipping up....instead of playing tight (like I did in ring games) action is the name of the game....and esspecialy early. I'm never gonna be the donk shoving in the first round but I'll damn sure be the one calling his shove when I'm in there and I know he's full of it. Chip up early by taking advantage of weak players and their mistakes......as the blinds go up I usually tighten up midway and just capitalize on +EV situations and try and steal from anyone that has been prone to get stolen from.....the late game is where I'm at my most week....well really just heads up lol....but I loosen up alot when I get ITM which may be a factor in my consistent 2nd place finishes!! I'm sure this wasn't much of a help but.......maybe it was....if you have any specific questions about anything or situations post away and I'm sure someone more intelligent than I will answer it!!
