SM PP Late in MTT

Ive been having trouble with these hands late in MTT. I am wondering what the best strategy is for playing these hands. In all positions, shorthanded or full table, facing a raise, or short or big stacked. I understand this is a lot, any info will be appreciated. Thanks for any info

With a full table, the only time I really like to get involved with small PP's are if I'm in late position, it's folded around, and I have a decent stack. Also if I have an M around 2-4 I'll push. I never play these in early positions unless I have a very big stack, as the implied odds are much less as the M's get smaller. At shorthanded tables, I'm more likely to play PP as there value goes up as the amount of players go down.

I would agree with M33. These hands can get you in trouble ....quick. Now with a limp pot and a hit on the flop, you can do well with them. For me, out of position, it is an auto fold.

That being said Ill try to answer ur question kind of.
It really depends on position or the amount of BBs oyou have in a tourney or sng. Late position I am raising any pair 44-AA, unless there has already been a raise,in which case I'll either flat or threebet depending on the hand and opponent. Early position I might double the blinds or limp/call a raise if you getting decent odds to set mine out of position.

Shortstacked in a mtt or sng however, if you have less than 10-15 BBs I am open shoving almost any pocket pair especially when you have position.

It depends on stack sizes,... your stack size and stack sizes of other players on your table. Generally speaking... if stacks are all fairly deep and you're on a fairly aggressive table (where most open limps are being raised), I would fold out all sm pp's in early position and would raise in MP or LP (it depends alot on the table you're playing on).
Another general rule of thumb to go by..(in regards to calling with sm pp's in LP). You want stack sizes to be ~ 15x the size of villain's raise to be calling with a low pp. Sometims you can adjust and make it less (~ 10x the size of the bet). Reason being.... you're about 1 in 8 of flopping a set (so why not go with 8x for a general rule? >> ) and then factor in the times you do flop your set but don't get paid off as well. This is why it's generally considered that you want stack sizes to be about 15x the initial bet to be able to profitably make the call (if more players in the pot, we can lower this). Alot of times you'll see players calling off 1/3+ with a low pp in hopes of hitting a set (<<< this is a huge mistake and is just spewing off your chipstack).

I'll rarely open limp with a low pp in MP or LP late in a Tournament. Instead I'll be raising like anyother time I'm entering a pot. THis also gives one the oppurtunity to represent the flop if BB calls you and you flop an A or K, fire out a c-bet when checked to and take it down.
