I have played many low stakes real money sit n go's in the past month at Full Tilt. I have played in both turbos and regulars. Personally I have not been making money playing in the turbos. One, because I feel that if you do not get good hands in the beggining you are in a very bad position. Even if you do get good hands but none of them are in big pots you still could be in bad position. Also, I like to play tight in the beggining of most tournaments until some of the crazy people get knocked out. In the turbos this strategy doesn't work as well. Even though I am making money in the regular tournaments the thing that drives me away from the regulars and towards the turbos is the differendce in time. Should I just stick to regular tournaments? Or should I try to play aggressive the whole tourney?

I think you should play Turbo SNG's and play tight. You need to wait until late to play hands and not worry about how many chips you have early. Play push poker is you get short stacked.

If you have the bankroll then you can keep trying turbos. If you arent making money off them, and you arent having fun though, then there is no point. Turbo style SNGs do have more variance and you really do need to make money much faster in them. I would build up a bit of a bankroll on normals and come back to turbos later and work your way up with them. See what works for you and your playing style.

While it's true that faster structures will decrease a good player's edge, it will never decrease it so much as to outweigh the increase in hourly rate due to being able to play ~2x as many games per hour. Unless of course you are adjusting incorrectly, or the difference in player pool skill between turbo and regular is fairly significant.

You have to play 2 or 3 regular tournaments in the same time!

I don't like the turbo or ultra turbo SNG's.

I like to get good cards, and think about what I'm doing.

You don't have too much time to think when the blinds are going up every 2 mins.

You have to play a little loser in these games, and that sucks.

i simply play what i like

thats it and thats the easiest way to keep yourself at ease n in control...i occasionally do a sit n go...buts its usually as an invite from a group or friend...as far as finacially goes the double ups are a decent bet if your a good tight player...other than that the ring games are my bread n butter...

I have been playing full tilt now on 6 max reg with 6 minute blinds and games go for like 45-55 minutes. On ub turbos are every 5 minutes but the games are on average 30-40 minutes. It matters i think from site to site. I notice on my tracker that games on tilt are tighter then ub, at least the ones I am in.

I can usually play 15-20 regular 9 max sitngoes at mid level stakes in one 2 hours session

I have tried the turbos before and i believe i played 24 in two hours, however my edge was insignificant and i believe i just broke even, so i didnt continue to try them.

I usually play 6-10 tables depening on gamespeed

But if i were you would play regularstructure and attempt to ply max amount of tbles

Maybe

Are you playing them right? I always play tight in any sit-n-go,as every chip to me is a small fortune.Don't limp with hands like suited connectors instead try folding them and saving those 30-120 chips for a hand you can raise with.Turbo is the best IMO it makes people feel the need to open their game and play more hands aggressively than they normally would, this is where I sit back and wait until I can raise opposed to calling/bleeding off my chips.

^--- THIS!

However, if I do get a small chip lead I'll open my range more in later positions and try to expand it... Now if you don't get good cards, pretty soon you're in low 'M' shove mode because of the elevated blinds... so now you play only shove hands...and you shove pf... you either survive and finish ITM or get called and knocked out... but then again, such is poker

I tend to agree here. Even tho turbos do increase the pressure, I have gotten ITM by only playing 6 hands the entire tourney. You can wait for those gems much further than conventional wisdom suggests. On those unhappy occasions when the cards are all razz gems, there isn't much you can do, but eventually you will get opportunities, even in the turbo's.

The turbo game is different, obviously, but the time issues are real, and a quick 1 hour STT turbo is as profitable as a slow 3 hour game, money wise, but more profitable $/Hr wise.

If you are making better money in the regular then you are in the turbo's I would say stick to the regular but maybe play two at the same time. This could not only increase your money per hour but also maybe keep you from wanting to play just so-so hands on either table.

I prefer the regulars over the turbos. i don't like to feel like i'm pushed for time and i think i can get a better read in the regulars also.

turbos and regular might as well be two different games. Your strategies change dramatically to keep up with the blinds. In turbos you are more pressured to make moves earlier on. Regulars give you much more time.

I agree that the regulars are a better brand of game for better players. Often times in th turbos you get to a point where the blinds force players to decide cash tourneys on mediocre hands.

you should play TAG and just wait for a hand to invest your money on. but maybe you should just try some 2.25$ regular blind SNGs.
