Hi All,

I've been playing the $1.20 sit n go's on stars over the last couple of weeks after having a break for a couple of months. My bank roll is slowly growing after having cashed in around 60/70% of them.

The only problem I'm having, which always frustrates me is my play in the middle stages. I know it's normally common practice to start stealing the blinds, but it always seems that when I do, I get re-raised or called.
If I get called I nearly always make a continuation bet, but i'd say most of the time this is called as well and so I have to end up slowing down.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I feel this is the worst part of my game.

Cheers,
Paul.

Firstly, don't expect that 60-70% cash to continue.

Read through this to find out what you can expect from SNGs. [broken link~tb]

In the midstages our two most profitable moves that pick us up the most equity are re-stealing and calling all ins. So stealing blinds does pick us up a decent chunk of equity over time, but in the micro staked games, your steals arn't going to work as often. So perhaps lower your raise sizes down preflop, which makes your c-bet smaller too. And pick the opponants you want to steal from, stealing from known loose players isn't a great idea, however if they are tighter, then sure, go ahead and steal their blinds. But as mentioned, we should be more concerned with re-stealing and calling shoves with appropriate ranges.

Since you mentioned that you c-bet, I would assume you don't have position on the callers. That being said, would I be correct in assuming that you are trying to steal from early and mid position? If so, stop doing that.

Fold all but premiums in the first 4 or 5 positions. Call IN POSITION to a raise no more than 3xBB. If you are going to steal, it helps to be in position. Your cards don't matter as much when you are last to act after the flop.

Just like real estate, poker is all about Location, Location, Location...
