I played my game held strong. Blinds were around 100-200 5 players left guy bet to 600 to take his chip stack to 2000. Normally when im the big blind he was always raising me. So this time A9 I push all in. He calls. Shows KJ

Flop A 5 7 J J

I hate playing a pretty much perfect game only to lose like that. I hate it. Especially how I lose. Why bother giving me an ace. Why not pair us both on the flop. Why do you have to give runner runner to crush me and put me out in 4th.

Anyways its late so I cant tilt but seriously it sucks. Meh whatever

After a decent sleep. I get up and get into a game.

I continue on my flawless play build up to around 4000 chips and playing very careful. Blinds are 150-300 5 players left. Get AQ suited guy goes all in for 1700 and naturally my playing style used to be NEVER call even with AQ suited. Just wait it out.

Anyways I call and am up against A6 well you know the story of what happens. I minimized my screen cuz I hate watching the board when all in.

Come back and see I lose. Up and down abit before pushing the big blind all in with K9 only to have him call A9

LOL seriously I am never calling anything ever again. Id rather finish in the money then lose like these.

I know people will keep saying well you were in the lead and still had some chips after losing. It doesn't matter if I don't risk that I don't lose it. Sure I move down a few chips but honestly whats the point. The right move seems to always lose

sigh.

Anyways my mind if fine as I felt ive played really great the last 2 games.

First thing you need to do is adjust your bankroll I get the impression your playing stakes that may be a large majority of your whole bankroll?

for us to play our best we need to de-attach from emotional aspects also we can beat variance of the cards every single game even playing flawless.
So if you give yourself 20 buy ins at $1.50 sit n go's
rather than 3,4 or 5 buy ins at a higher stake such as $7.00 or $10.00 or $20.00.
You wont keep getting busted by awful plays or dominated cards

One thing I cant deal with is large field tournaments, playing as you do a good game for 3 hours and ending up on the back end of something unfortunate,

For that reason I tend to play smaller mtts for bankroll building and invest into bigger games occasionally

I think you're lying to yourself here. You have big mentality issues.

You can't even look at the board when you're all-in out of fear of getting beat?
Now, you don't want to make calls that are sure to be +EV?

Also, I don't think it's wise to assume you played flawlessly. Everybody misses spots. Just because you were in a nice position and got unlucky doesn't mean you played perfectly. Maybe you did, but it's more important to actually review and make sure you played well instead of just thinking you did because of how it ended.

Sorry, but good players with a "flawless" game don't make a thread about losing a 60/40's like this and how they played so "flawless" during both stt's.. Also what makes you think you have played a nearly perfect game? I'd bet strongly against this, that's without seeing any hands you played, just purely based on your posts alone just indicates to me that's no where near true.

Playing "very careful" and nitting up when when blinds go up - is not a winning play for a start, it's actually the opposite of how to play stt's profitably. Sayting stuff like "I'm never calling again and I'd rather just get in the money" is a losing players mentality, not solid winner - sorry.

My post may come of as harsh but it's just being honest, I find a lot of posts like this from people who just like to post standard spots as beats, think they are playing perfect and are just to ignorant to want to improve and look at their game as opposed to losing a flip. Posts like this don't improve your game and I assume that's what you want, nor does anyone actually care about a standard spots in poker but I guarantee there are more spots you can control and look at which will increase your win rate, not flips or 60/40's which are out of your control. If you want to improve your game, post hands, post a whole game of hands and ask for feedback on each hands you should be opening, hands you should be folding etc etc. As I said, what you think is flawless is highly likely the complete opposite of how stt's should be played.

In the future, instead of making a thread like this one, just post a hand history and ask for what's the best play and I guarantee you these will be better for your game than threads like this, as these posts just can't help your game at all and that should be your long term goal in poker. :) gl!

Over the years, I've seen a lot of players tell themselves and others how well they played, and even that they played a hand or a tournament perfectly.

What they don't seem to realize is that it's counter-productive to think this way. Improvement requires finding what to improve as much as possible.
