Last night had 5 BB's left and picked up A8 offsuit UTG+2. Shove or fold? Any minimum hand requirements for going all-in with 5 BB's or less?

Easy shove, A8s very strong hand when you have 5bb.. and you can hope for coinflip... Not very often other villain will have A9+ or TT+..

Usually you dont wanna be down to 5bbs but it depends on structure. In this situation yes its a shove, obvy you would want to be in a better spot ideally, but with this situation you gotta go with it

Shove any ace, you just don't have time to wait for a better hand, because ante will eat your last chips.
It's very bad to have just 5 bb, it's better shove earlier when you have more chips.

Try & keep em suited from that position.
If that was the best you've had. Go for it.

certainly with such a card in this position and with such a small stack to go Ollin. as you have a good hand and two stroke blinds eat you.

Auto shove.

With such a decent hand coupled it with a cripple stack, no choice but to go all-in.

Unfortunately that's your only choice. Good move.

My ideea is that when you become short stack into a MTT means that you played a lot of hand there, or the blinds just grew a lot , or you had a badbeat , bad play etc. When i'm short i definelly know all the table what kind of game they have. And with 5bb you must with any2 the extratight players, fold even A5- with a real aggro player and so on...you must be prepaired for the best moment and is't a real magnific thing do not being called :)). Just pick up the blinds for a few times and you're again in the business!
Feeling times! You cannot avoid these moments with no risks

Yep, auto shove. Chances are you will not get anything better before the antes and blinds eat your remaining chips.

If you are in nine handed play with five big blinds, I can see why shoving with pairs, broadways, or high aces is optimal - but is shoving with a low ace the best play? I would have a hard time shoving with A2, A3, or A4 in most positions.

I would have a hard time shoving with A2, A3, or A4 in most positions.

Why? A8 is not that much better than A5... especially against a calling all in. You're either against a better ace, PP, or hopefully, some K/Q/J. A2-5 may even be a bit better in some instances than A6-7 since you have an extra couple straight % points.

Plus, the point isnt whether A5 is better than A8... the point is that you likely wont see another A before you blind out.

There are no minimum hand requirements for going all-in with 5bbs or less. If you suspect that the players following you will probably fold to an all-in (because of the way they have been playing or because of their stack sizes) you'd be justified in shoving with 2-3 offsuit!

A8 is good hand if you have 5 bb only.but if you have smthng like K9 or connectors it is probably all in too.

Easy push all in for me, too. If I have 5 bb's or less I shove with any suited connectors, any pair or king with kicker over 8.

I find that I play better with short stack,, makes decisions easy. This is an easy all in.. any ace in that position, unless on bubble and a shortser stack out there.. Have to putthem to good use, and odds are this will be your best shot...

At 5 bb and in 4 hands will be 3.5 bb or less depending on ante, any A stands for All-in.

at this point, i'd shove with any ace, any pocket pairs, most kings (Probably around K7 or so).

If you can, notice what people are calling with generally. If you see that it's any Ace for the majority of people, you might want to cut A2-A4-5 from your list for fear of being dominated. A8 is a go either way, as either you'll likely dominate their ace or flip with something, or the table is tight and everybody will fold.

A8 s a godsend in this spot. no, it's nowhere near premium, but it's a lot better than most of the other options.
