HI I PLayed recently a hand, that I think i should fold .
9 handed table 45 sit n go early stage everyone on the table had about 50 BB
utg( very tight weak player) limped I was on MP and opened for 3bb with AKs
(maybe I should open for 4 bb , anyway) everyone folded to UTG who 3 bet me.
Automatically I put him on QQ KK AA or AK.

Knowing his range should i still call and see the flop... ???

I flopped king , went to showdown and lost to AA. Pretty bad play from me. -doesn't matter .

You put him on exactly what you thought he had and still made the call. I think you should listen to your own intuition knowing he was a tight player.

With the range you put your opponent in, it's a clear fold. Your AKs has a 38% equity against that range, and that puts your hand completely behind.

Now the flop gets things tricky. That king on the flop helps you a lot and gives your equity a boost (58% of your hand against 42% of your opponent's range) so from there it is a total different story. Don't blame yourself for the postflop play as it surely is fine. But next time you face a tight player limping and then 3betting preflop UTG, remember that AK is an underdog to the QQ+, AK range.

Yeah that is what i thought , fold preflop is the best play.

Limp and then 3-bet a standard game of many players with aces. Seen so many times, poor play of opponents actually. Listen to your intuition, it is properly prompted. In your case old preflop is the best play. He has early position limps and then 3-bet - 100% AA.

Well, I think you played just fine ,AK is very strong hand, no point in folding it preflop so easily.
Okay, that limp-raise could be aces, but I've seen a lot of weak players do it with a whole lot of pocket pairs, AQ etc... no point in expecting aces evrytime you see limp-raise (especially at mico stakes). Not to mention that you have blockers for AA or KK combinations, so the probability that your opponent will always have AA or KK is slightly reduced.

Bad luck that you floped good (top pair, top kicker) and he had aces, but what can you do?
I think that by folding this preflop you lose profit in the long run.

When you put him on QQ, KK, AA or AK, only AK we are even.

When a weak tight player 3bets, we know now he has the goods.

A-men to this. Could the OP be a calling station?

you had read the cards right and still played the weaker hand - a K on the table made it then a hard decision as unless he had AA you were ahead. Then you had to play and find out.

Overall depends on value of tourney - lower value S & G then you try whilst high value you may sit and wait for another time. Depends also n your budget and whether you are just playing (as I do too often) or concentrating and therefore trying very hard to be in the money.

Perhaps seeing your instincts as being correct is a stepping stone for you?

They say you need to listen to yourself and just keep practicing at believing yourself :)

When your instincts are good enough you wont need the nuts to win, so keep practicing :) .

Its a very easy fold, I'm surprised you knew what you had to do but did the opposite.
