Hey guys and girls, so in short detail, I've been playing poker for about a year now. I've notice that I'm a better poker player when it comes to tournaments rather than cash games because I'm more of an opportunist than a patient player (if that even correlates).

Anyways, there's a tournament coming up soon for $1500 and there's a few $200 satellite tournaments. Is it worth playing the $200 satellite?

For Me, It's Better Play Cash Tournaments And If You Won, Then Play Cash Tournaments With Bigger Buy in! :) But You Can Do What You Wanna Do!!! :D

Satellites are tough to gage. I don like the smaller satellites with only 1-2 seats. I prefer more players and more tickets available for a few reasons. Yes the odds are the same but with more people, you have a longer chance to actually play rather than make it an all in fest when it's down to the last few people.

Yes, they are worth playing :) I guess you could always go ask Chris Moneymaker for his opinion.

at times you can luck up and find a satellite with a few players. if you can enter the tourney without violating your bankroll then go direct...or enter a cash tourney and win your entry

Satellites are tougher to get a reward, beginning with the fact that it you will play a whole tournament that will lead you to another and harder one, cause on the main tournament, the players will be only he level of the previous satellites winners, so it's a very selected MTT to play. I'm pretty sure that cash tournaments are way more rewardable when we talk about money prizes, but and satellite tournament is rewardable in a matter of learning and skill.

You need to have a very large bankroll to play a $200 satellite.

For me it depends on how many places win tickets - I never play winner takes all or satellites that pay a few small percent.

I like tournaments with great possibilities: but I will pay a small amount for a small chance. Watch for late registration, it can take forever.

Satellites give you the best bang for your buck, only thing is I like to play the satellites a day or so before so I can regain my sanity. I dont like it when you win the ticket and you are pushed into an already running event.

Satellites of 200 you have to have 100 times this amount in your account to want to play it. But smaller satellites such as 0.50 to 2 dollars are worth playing.

It depends on what you want from the main tournament. If your happy with just making it to the money, satellites can help your ROI. If your goal is to get a 1-3 finish, or even a ring/bracelet, you will want about 100 satellite buy ins. Also satellites are great for taking shots at tournaments your bankroll can't support. Hell, the poker boom started because of a satellite! All in all I think they are good for the game.

Depends but you gotta remember that it's for a seat into the next tournament in which will matter much more!

Satellites are a great way to get experience. I play them for the experience and don't worry about the win rate. Great way to add pressure to the game as you progress through the satty structure.

they are a longshot for a fraction of the cost so they are worth what you pay

Usually satellites played out little vouchers to the main tournament and get into the number of the winner is not so easy.If you feel confidence in the victory, play satellite. If you bankroll allows you to pay buy-ins,it is better and easier to the direct participate in the tournament.

Satellites usually only played a couple of tickets, and the number of large uchavstuyuschih. Not the best choice!
