Satellite to the Ferguson; a poor way to build a BR

I've read in a few places here and elsewhere that a good way to try to build a bankroll from zero is to pay the 'Satellite to the Ferguson' tournament on Full Tilt.

It runs once a day at 23:10. Has 2700 entries and pays 100 places.

I placed in it the other day and won myself a handy dandy tournament ticket to 'The Ferguson'.

I didn't know at the time that Tournament Tickets are very different from Tournament Dollars. While tournament dollars can be converted to cash or used in any real cash buy in tournament, the Tournament Tickets must be used as intended; for the tournament they were originally intended.

Thought I'd put this up, as fair warning that while the Satellite to the Ferguson might have been a good way to start a real bankroll from nothing in the past, it does go very far at the moment. Unless of course I place in The Ferguson too... slim odds.

It's been awhile since I've played in the satellite to The Ferguson. When you took the Top 100 in one of those, they use to just auto-register you, but if you unregistered, then you would get $1 in Tournament dollars.. I wasn't aware that you get a tournament ticket for it, now.

:congrats: lool...I've played 'the Ferguson' a few times. The only good thing about it is that they stretch out the pay-out structure from the usual top 10% to something like the top %20.

good luck, & have fun:D

I've won 1 satellite so far, but then again i've only been playing for a week. As I see it, winning the satellite is actually not that difficult with only 2699 other players to compete with and 200 winners. This is so much better than the other freerolls on fulltilt, with 10K player pool and 45 winners, ridiculous...

I just observed a Ferguson tournament yesterday to get a feel for it before actually playing. Seems like people don't shove nearly as much as in the satellite, will observe a bit more before playing.

Fine. I guess I shouldn't complain. I'll just go and win "The Ferguson".

Yeah, sucks you can't just take your 1 T$, but honestly there's not much you could do with it anyhow, maybe satellite into the BLT or something. I've never played it, but The Ferguson I think generally isn't huge the way the freeroll "finals" are, so probably a better chance to cash.

Good luck!

It use to be that you could use your FTPs to register for a satelite and then cash that out, but no more,

I think they replaced it with the ability to use your FTPs to buy a Steps tournament ticket, and once you get to lvl 3 you can buy into any tournament you want pretty much.

If you are actually good at SnG (aka not me) that is a good way to get a bankroll from nothing.

I've played in a few more Satellite to Fergusons since my first try, when I won a ticket. And I have not been so successful... The problem is, even if I double up once at the beginning, you have to double up at least once more till others start playing tight and you can steal blinds. So I guess it's just a numbers thing, you'll win a few tickets if you play several times. Gotta keep at it!

The Satellite to the Ferguson starts each day at 23:10 ET. You can't register until 10min before and it fills fast so you gotta be ready.

You can find it under the 'play money' section on Full Tilt.

Remember though if you place, you'll get a ticket to the actual Ferguson which runs at 1:30 am. ET. !!! I'll never get around to using my ticket. :(

I had never seen it before. You do have to switch to the "Play Money" section to see it. Doesn't show up if you have "real money" checked, even if you're looking under freerolls. Weird.

I played Sat to Ferguson but I use it to play daily dollor. Daily dollar has a good price for final table.

I placed and received a 1 dollar tourney ticket. It was crazy tho the last 45min to hour my table played something like 6 to 10 hands just waiting for the bubble. With big stacks insta putting some little to medium stacks all in on any call. Idk if every table played that way...but mine did very little action but i did earn a tourney buck lol
