Does anyone have any interesting stories about seeing players running like god in MTTs??

Ive seen a few in freerolls where players pick up a big stack early and then proceed to constantly shove and always seem to hit. But im talking more about games with some sort of buyin or in the later stages.

I was playing a 45 man 3euro game last night and joined the final table as chip leader. There were two shortstacks and one of them went on the biggest heater I've ever seen lol

He started the final table with just under 1.5K (which was the initial starting stack). The first hand of the FT the short stacks both went allin. AT against AK and the heater guy held up to double up and cripple the other short stack. Next hand the crippled guy shoves his 1BB stack UTG and gets reshoved on by a medium stack with 99. Heater guy calls with AA and doubles up, taking a player out and more than doubling up again.

Next hand we were SB and BB. Folds round to me and I raise with TT, he raises me and i shove. I hate playing 99, TT, JJ oop in this sort of spot and his stack was ok to shove against. He called with QQ and doubled up through me.

So he's now up to about 13K and is one of the bigger stacks. 2 or 3 hands later he stacks off with another big stack and has AA vs KK and takes a huge pot.

By the time we were back round to SB BB again, there are 5 players left and hes chip leader with about 27K. I have A5 diamonds on the SB and it folds round to me. I limp and he raises. I call the raise coz i thought he might be getting aggro with the run hes on. Flop comes out two diamonds J66. I check and check raise his cbet which he calls. Turn is a blank so i bet out hoping to take it down. He calls again and the river is an ace. I think I've rivered him at this point so shove the rest of my stack and he calls with AA!! This isnt a sympathy post coz i dont think i played the hand well!

The guy is now on 43K and no one on the table had more than 6k when i closed the table. But this guy hit AKsuited , AA, QQ, AA and AA in one round!! What i'd give for that sort of run lol

haha very true! maybe not quite to the extent this guy had but you're probably right. I was just wondering if anyone had any stories of live or online games where something similar happened.

Those super runs are very frequent in hyper-turbo HUs. I remember a lot of cases when I got my opponent almost beated with like 1BB left and after a series of all-ins I had to close the tourney as a underdog. The thing is, you can't usually do much about it, at least in the phase where your opponent has few blinds and you have to keep calling and just hope you finally bring it to an end. Those almost win-suddenly losed games always tilt me as mad lol.
For example yesterday I played SNG againts some ruskie. Blinds was 10/20 (first level) and I won a big hand for almost his entire stack. I had 990 while he had 10 chips. Well, AK<23, T9<A3, 77<K2, 86<AA, then I folded few trashes to his shoves so he jumped to like 200 chips. But I picked up Aces for the next hand and he shoved again holding A7, I was convinced it should be finally over, but running running flush for thim proved me wrong. And here we go, it was 500/500 again after few next hands. So I was like OK, let's win this again.. So I get it in with A8 againts his KJ and held up. He was crippled again with 10 chips..Long story short, he get back again and in the final hand he crashed my AK with KT all in pre. I really had steam coming out of my ears after this game. From time to time, there are just games you are not determined to win I guess. :)

This isn't an MTT situation, but last night in a DoN on Carbon somebody pulled off the sickest comeback I've seen so far. This player got knocked down to 70 chips, blinds were 75/150 at the time.

He waited a few hands then shoved AQ, which was really just a call since he didn't even have half a BB. There was an Ace on the flop, so he won the river showdown against QQ, 33, and 85s. This took him up to $280.

Blinds/antes went up to 20/100/200, somebody limped AK from MP, and he took the hit in the BB with J6s then put his last 60 chips in on the flop. The limper flopped a pair of Kings and naturally called, but guess what, turn card was a 6, river was a Jack. Now he's up to $1040.

A few hands later he shoved 88 from MP, BB called with QJo. He flopped quad 8's. Now he's close to $2000.

The next time he was in the BB, he had KK and somebody limped TT from the button. He shoved, the button called. He flopped set, button flopped an up and down straight draw. Turn and river were both 4's and he wound up with a full house. Now he's up to $4000.

He raised a couple of times and shoved once after that with no takers: ending chip stack = over $5000.

Nice! :D

It's funny how an A 10, A J offsuit, small PP's or something like two face cards look so good when you are trying to fight your way back up... Any of those feel like monster hands when you're fighting to stay in the tourney. hahaha

I ran like God a few nights ago....and I gotta say: It was awesome!

Ended up getting first in a 263 person MTT...wish I could claim it was all skill but I just got hooked up by the deck a lot...and also I knew how to put myself in those spots to get lucky...

It was as if I just could do no wrong. I'd jam with KQ get called by AT and I double up. A while later I jam on a short stack with KQ and they call me with A9 and I take them out.

Short stacks shove into me when I have JJ or QQ, and I hold up....

I shoved on a guy with QQ and he had AA and I sucked out....

Twice I flopped sets vs. monsters and got their whole stacks.....

people limped into my BB and I'd flop 2 pair with garbage and they'd catch top pair....

it makes you feel like you are a much better poker player than you really are when you're running that good, but it sure is fun!
