I have always sucked at turbo. I play regular games. I like the slower blind levels. It's good because you can have more big blinds at once and I just play way better poker when the blinds aren't applying retarded amounts of pressure

Regular tourneys for sure. I'm like blocher, I hate when big blinds has more effect on my decision making. Theoretically, one's stack would have increased along with the blinds but we all know how that sometimes goes, lol.

I prefer the regular games. Turbos seem to leave more to chance than a regular game so I stay away from those.

regular games are not to slow, it gives you time to build up chips!
Anything faster then that and you'll be in a rush to make moves, and if someone is using their time clock, the blinds will KO you even quicker.
Turbos are way to quick, it's like bingo! :)

10 min blinds are great especially if you play 18-man because you are deep almost the entire tournament... until you reach final 10. Here I learned how to fold preflop premium hands

Turbos leave a lot to chance but they are not bad when you get used to it. Its crazy sometimes because it seems like you need no skill to play when the blinds are high but you can win a pretty good percentage of those if you know what you are doing.

I think a lot of people overlook this and just concentrate on the minutes. The real thing you should look at is how many hands per level you get in. Its usually the same for a similar buyin tournament. But for example, a $11 tournament with 15 minute blinds will be similar to a $2 - 10 minute blinds because as you get the same amount of hands per level. I do think the 5 minute blinds are really fast and I would rather play in a 7 or 10 minute structure.

I don't understand! I've never found that higher buy-in tourneys are played at a slower pace than smaller buy-ins. Has anyone else found this?

However you will find that some sites have a 'normal' speed of 10 minute levels while others are 15 minutes. There's also a difference in the number of 'normal' players per table - some have 9 and others 10, while Sky's maximum is 6. Similarly turbos are different from site to site, as are hyper-turbos - some not only have one-minute levels but they also give a smaller starting stack.

I haven't played enough tournaments to confirm it but thats what ive noticed. Maybe others can share their thoughts on this.
