Play passively and expect to eliminate other players is a serious error in Shootout tournaments. You can try to establish a conservative image in the early levels where the blinds are low, but when the blinds start to rise should start getting involved in the game aggressively.
As only the winner of each table advances often need to take risks to find stay with all the chips. If this means you have to risk your tournament in a classic coin-flip do not stop.:rolleyes:

Yes. Also quickly decide who is who. Who is playing scared and who is nuts. The crazy guy you want to get it in with a solid hand and overbet to do it if needed. The wimp is a player you want to stomp on and run over. Use middling hands in some cases. Trash hands maybe to steal from the coward at the table. There will be luck needed and situational luck in particular. Swing for the fences baby!
