hi all
after reading about colluder rings on PS
it seems to me it is VERY easy for teams of colluders
to get into any of the tournys
i play on FT
it would seem to make sense for them to play mid/high stakes
for more profit
but even "amateur" colluders could easily enter any of the 18/27/45/player etc. sng's
or any mtt tourny
do any of think this is a problem ?
i have heard of
'softplay' and 'chip dump'
are there other ways of spotting colluders ?
what buyins are they more likely to play ?
(how low would they go)
seems logical for them to avoid the really high stakes
as they will be easier to spot
any thoughts ?
thanks

Could be a problem

It could be a problem and tough to detect in more ways than one.I mean how easy could it actually be to actually know how to spot these people and know what they were up to in these tournaments. In my opinion I feel that it would be tough to detect in many different ways.

It def happens. I'm pretty sure fulltilt has software that picks up on the betting patterns of these scum bags. It's a disgrace to the game. This is probably one of the reasons the high stakes players are usually heads up.

If they're all from China, they're colluding.

With todays advanced tracking programs its quite easy. Just go and check the stats. If they have played the same tables, or SnG's all the time, then you just send an e-mail to the support.
Colluders are most likely to play single table games where they are at the same table, and where soft play pays off. Ie DoN's, single table satellites and, sometimes SnG's.

"the object of poker is to make money"
could we see teams of colluders playing against each other ?
will we have to join a 'gang' to survive ?
just a thought lol

if your playing at low stakes i wouldn't worry about it because the players that are good at cheating will play at higher stakes and the amatuers cant get that much of an advantage because when you chip dump your taking chips from the other team member. These basic techniques the average joe can figure out wont give them a big enough advantage to be successful.

I wouldnt worry too much about cheating in MTTs. For one they have to be at the same table, which is unlikely. Secondly, even if they are at the same table, all they can really do is softplay, share their 2 cards with each other and try to collude to make people fold or put more money in the pot.

It's fairly obvious when people collude to whipsaw/make people fold, and they are easily caught. I've caught people doing it in ring games and after the 2nd time it was totally obvious what they were doing. Emailed suport and they got banned for good.

In sit n goes, especially the double or nothing/double ups it is a much more lucrative undertaking and a serious problem. Softplaying in such a flat structure like that gives a great edge to the others involved. This is where the chinese cheaters were found, and I believe they've been dealt with already, or PS support is in the process of dealing with them.

someone posted (on here i think)
that they where all still there but had moved to the stud tables
seems to me after thinking about it
the ring (cash) tables would be easier targets for colluders
not so much mtt's
still scary tho
