My experience with unlimited rebuy tournaments is terrible.

No matter how much you survive waiting for the right chance, slowly building your stack, it won't matter at all.
Cause there'll always be a number of retards who will shove preflop with any hand they got and just rebuy if they loose.

In the end it all comes down to who has the money to throw in like an idiot and get lucky with the cards they draw.

Lost with AK today to J10 preflop today.Yesterday lost AK preflop to something like A4. Specially because they aren't afraid to shove and get lucky or try over n over again through rebuys.
Not gonna try unlimited rebuy tournaments ever again.

I know I sound very salty but when it all comes down to chance & 0% skill, what is the purpose?

I'm talking about micros of course

with rebuys tourney you should prepare about 5x BI at least especially w/ double rebuys & such

when people open/call wider, then we should be really happy about it

those rebuys period are a good opportunity to build massive stack early

Unfair if you have a small bankroll yes because you will go against so many draws early game play which equals bad beat city most of the time.

I have terrible experiences with rebuy tournaments too. I try to play very tight but as soon as I loose I never rebuy.
No matter how unlucky I have been I don't think I will stop playing them though, especially when they are free entry.

Unfair or not, I do not prefer them. You see very erratic plays from players who don't care about busting out, they're similar to freerolls in that regard. I don't mind tournaments with 2 Rebuys+1 add-on though.

Personally I don't bother with them, if u want to blow your chips every hand. Your not doing against me unless its a straight knockout game. Each to there own tho 😀

You should understand that rebuy is meaningful only in the very beginning stage of the tournament, when almost all players have approximately equal starting stacks. Rebay in the middle of the tournament, like late registration means that you will play with the initial stack against players with large stacks that play well or today with them luck.. ;)

I try not to play at such tournaments. There are players who try using Allyn to double or triple his stack. This interferes with the normal game. I do not spend on rebuys. If I lose chips then I do not rebuy and leave.

Try to see things from a different angle. What if it's good if others play loose, you could take adventage over them in a long time period, right? The other good thing about rebuy tournaments is that first paid place would be like 4-5 times of your buyin...

I agree with you, for us small stacks its a terrible disadvantage. Money talks in those games.

why is it unfair? everyone has the same opportunity.

if someone rebuys 5 times, do you really think they're going to profit? probably not. if you make it to the money on 1 bullet, guess what you profit on a mincash. if it takes you 5 bullets you probably have to get 6th or better to profit depending on the size of the tournament of course

They are not unfair. They are a unique game.

If you had a bad experience in one, and haven't figured them out yet, then stay away from them.

If you decide to play one, I highly suggest you have multiple re-buys ready.

In a R&A, the beginning stages will never be tight. Midway thru the re-buy period they might get tighter, but at the end of the re-buy period they do get crazy.

Always do the add-on!

Alucard, body I agree with you 100%. Is sick to see these looser get bitten and then re buy and re buy until they hit a Bingo!

So I stop playing those re buy Tournaments, unless they are Frre rolls, and then only pay Nut hands. :deal:

I got too discouraged knocking out the same player several times and then losing to them later. I'd rather play cash then a rebuy tourney.

You are missing the point. It is a rebuy. If you aren't planning to rebuy and add-on, why play?

Personally I rebuy out the gate. I'm trying to get a big stack quickly. If I bust, I simply double rebuy and the game goes on. I can't see a reason to even play if you don't plan to rebuy. If I don't have a bunch of gamble in me that day, I can wait till the end of late registration, join, rebuy, then add-on and end up with a pretty decent stack without playing a hand.

Depends on the point of view you see, for some is to have the opportunity to be in that tournament and not be eliminated by a bad play or by luck

Maybe I misunderstood the post.
The tournaments I am talking about are those free entry tournaments where you have the chance to buy more chips when you ran out of chips or addon during a specific time period.
Because it's free entry and I can win cash if I finish in the top places it is always worth a try.

These are now universally known as FreeBuys! Free is often worth investing a little time, you might go on a rush of monumental proportions, who knows?

You should still be prepared to re-buy multiple times.

I agree I don't like rebuy tournaments. BOL has a lot of freerolls that way. I will play those, but I never rebuy.

A min cash in a rebuy is like 4x to 5x buy in and you can get a good ROI if you cash on just a buy in. The ppl that do buy in a bunch of times have to final table to break even. It is not unfair because they are juicing the prize pool and taking more risk.

ICM-wise, they're just bloating the prize pool. They won't be making money in the long run because they're bad. You're unlikely to cash, but the prize pool is so high due to these idiots that it's definitely fair and worth it.

If they are shoveling with really low ranges they are practically throwing chips on the table for anyone who has a tighter range, no need to complain, if they get lucky one time or another that's normal, but that doesn't mean it's profitable
