Obviously with 1rebuy and 1 addon tournaments these are quite straight forward. However how do you approach the ones that are unlimited rebuys?

I ask because a while back I did a FPP sat bonanza or something it's called. 8fpp buy-in, unlimited rebuys and a add on. I found myself busting out a few times when the blinds got big and couldn't help re buying (doubles at a time, 16fpp) and it got to the point where with 5minutes left of rebuys the blinds was so high you was going all-in every time and I was addicted to staying there because the re-buy you got 30k chips for 8 fpps so was worth shot. Anyway, I got to the rebuy point, go my 30kchips and managed to get my "ticket" although I used 300fpp in the process lolol! Now this didn't seem worth it in the end. Any strategies for them?

Same applies to dollar rebuy games, what sort of bankroll you need and can it actually be profitable? Any advice would be great!

Well, I use a strategy with these types of tourneys, it relates to BRM, stack size and reason for felting. It's something that I came up with after a lot of reading and my experience with MTTs.

Firstly I always budget on a max of 2 rebuys and 1 addon (This is in line with my brm). It also makes sure that I don't put more cash into the tourney than placing in the money will get me back.

Secondly, I will only rebuy if felted when the number of chips I get for a rebuy is over 50% of the average stack size in the tourney (This uses stack size to determine whether or not I rebuy. e.g: if the average stack size is 10k and a rebuy gets me 3k, I won't rebuy) This ensures that I am not just feeding the chip leaders.

Lastly, I will only rebuy if, when the money went in, I had the best hand. This forces me to make good descisions in the early stages of the tourney before the end of the rebuy period. This is more geared towards my MTT strategy, but I have found it the most useful of the 3, in terms of number of tourneys I enter vs the number of times I place.

In terms of Bankroll, I will not buy into a tourney unless I have 100x the buyin amount. So for a 1k Bankroll, no more than $10 buy in.

By no means the only way, just what works for me.

The ten cent rebuy at tilit.

This has been a great game for me. With limited br at tilt when im about broke. I will play the 10cent rebuy one and done. with no rebuys and no addon. Just to see how far I can make it. And avoiding the ealy pitfalls of over calling or seeing every hand worth playing I tend to do just ok. But If I were to rebuy it would be a set # like 2 maybe 3 and ofcourse always take advantage of the addon those just might be the chips that get you to the final table. Along with this type of tourney there usauly is a late reg period. And some ppl have unlimited br's and tend to be way more agrressive while rebuys are avail. So I tend to be very cautious during rebuy and addon period. But once they end I come out stronger and more agressive myself. You will find that the average player tightens way up after rebuys close. And the playing field becomes more leveled for the mid to just above average chip stacks. You can run down some of the chip leaders that were bullies during rebuy. Because thay had an unlimited br. Now play ur best game and watch how different some play when rebuys end. Also there is a good video at the FT academy on rebuy tournys.

It depends on structure and stuff, but its important to remember proper BRM.
You need to be able to afford as many buy-ins as you need without causing any major blow to your bankroll.

When I play unlimited re-buys I count on re-buying 2-3 times in addition to the add-on. However I don't play with reckless abandon like some people do just because I can re-buy. I call shoves a little wider - but I still try to avoid situations which could cost me too many re-buys. It is rare I will just let it go before the add-on - but there have been a couple of times I have done that.

I have a limit for 10 rebuys each game..Thats a lot to some maybe..But when i hit the limit,i just leave the game. My goal is to have 10-15k+ when addon period begins. Im not saying that i usually make 10 rebuys (i dont have more then 3-4 on a regular basis) but you really need to have som maximum limits and keep a good look at your BR.

I want a medium/good hand to go allin preflop..Some times i call with 45,67,J10,Q10 etc to take a shot incase i hit. Especially when there are many players involved.

Exactly the BR numbers i dont have, and actually i never looked them up. Im sure they advice you to have a huge BR for every limit u play.

I am trying one of these $3 unlimited rebuy tourney with my built up VPPs at Carbon.

It's amazing. I am watching this guy buy in 5 times already. He's shoving with crap like A5 and QJ suited.

Even if he makes the final 20 ($15 pay out), he's in the red since he paid rake in addition to the buy in.

(As I type, I just busted him with QQ vs. 10 10) So he's rebought for a 6th time. The guy is just out of control.

It's frustrating though, I have done pretty well so far, I've doubled up 3x and sitting in the top 20 out of about 200 but the number of players remaining has not gone down at all. They just shove with anything decent and rebuy when they lose.
---

Edit: This dude that rebought 6x just quadripled up with AA vs. 3 dudes who called his shove with crap. So now he has more chips than me 10K to 8K.

Edit 2: He got AA again! twice in 3 hands.

I am up to about 11K, but he still has me covered. I see a confrontation down the road and I hope lady luck takes pity on me.

Sitting in 9th out of 49 players remaining. Top 30 cash. Hope I can make it.

Even making 30th will cover the losses I've had in cash games over the last week.

I ended up 23rd. I got up to as high as $47K and 9th but with the bubble approaching, I played conservatively. Post bubble, I didnt' get any playable hands and the antes and blinds bleeded me down to $21K and sitting in 18th out of 23.

On SB with blinds at 2K/4K and antes 400, I had A8os. Everyone folded and CO, who had been limping a lot with a big stack, limped again. I decided to shove it. Not having played a hand in a few go-arounds, I felt like I had a good chance of taking the pot. BB folded as expected but CO turns over AQ. That was it for me.

21th to 30th got $17. 11th to 23rd got $23.

With the exception of the final hand, I got my chips in there good everytime. Got a bad beat one time that knocked me to 5K but I doubled up quick after that. So I don't feel too bad about it. Debatable whether I should have shoved that final hand, but I felt I could take the pot right there. I was wrong as he happened to have AQ.
