I see a lot of the mtt are rebuy add on games, ive never played on of these before.
I saw in the strat articals that there several ideas on the best way to play these, from super loose during the rebuy period, to super tight.

I dont have nearly the bankroll to be doing rebuys to a tourny, but i am interested in playing in some of these tournys.
Is there a "best" way to go about playing one, do i treat it like any other MTT where you go tight in the early, and try to make big with the premium hands?

I love re-buys and have played a lot of them. Only play them if you can afford a few re-buys and the add-on. Otherwise avoid them.

I don't play quite as tight in these during the re-buy period as I do early in other mtt's. However I don't go crazy either. You can get a feel for your table pretty quickly. If there are all-ins most hands - and that happens sometimes - then you don't want to be raising with hands you are not prepared to get it all in with.

You can call all-ins a bit wider than in regular mtt's - but be careful about getting it all in with too many players in the pot already if you don't have a really strong hand.

If you don't have the bankroll for these tourneys, don't play them, period. Generally I rebuy at the start, and limit myself to 1 more rebuy then an add-on. Don't go crazy with rebuys, you can always play the same tourney tomorrow without spending 5x the buyin and being below the chip average.

I still havnt tried any of the rebuy/add on games as of yet, do you get the add on at the beginning of the game or do you wait for a while? And im guessing you do the rebuy if you want to when you get knocked out? Or can you get the rebuy at anytime and then if you go out its already done?

I too agree that your BR should be able to support it.

Think of as ... you re-buy 2 times, add-on, plus your original buy-in, That is the equavilent of 4 normal buy-ins. So it can put a lot of stress on your BR if you have a bad game.

Rebuy straight away at the beginning and then addon at the addon period. If you drop to a stack size where you can rebuy (below starting) rebuy.

i've played a few of these and realized that my bankroll wasn't enough to make it worth my while...if its a really nice guarantee tourny then i'll play it and go in with the understanding that i'm not gona rebuy no matter what, otherwise i just stick to freezeout's or sng's...but if i had the roll to support a worthwhile rebuy/addon tourny, i'd most definitely rebuy at most 3 times with one addon, if i feel im playing at a level where i can make it deep...

personally, i don't like them, because they are hard to win (lots of bad players who rebuy and lucked at fith time)
i rather play the knockout tourneys with bounties. have a try

On pokerstars at least, the rule is always that you can rebuy if you have less than or equal the starting stack, or you can double rebuy when you go out.
Some tourneys require you to lose a certain amount before you can rebuy (I imagine this is designed to stop those with bigger BRs from bullying), however i've not played any online tourneys that use this rule.

Don't see it being a profitable thing to do with micro limits since variance would be so high with reckless play being made for like the first 3 hours. no thanks, too much of a headache.

I think they are good. But pay attention to how much you buy in and where the payout starts. It is very easy to pay so much in buy in that even if you make it in the money you loose.

I typically allow my self 1 re-buy and 2 addons. go into it expecting to do at least this... If not you are just throwing money away as you will be short stacked most of the time.

On how to play in beginning you can loosen up but be selectively loose. The nice thing about the re-buy is you can play slightly ev+ situations early on. If you can get in a multi-way pot with a strong hand usually can build your stack very nice very quick and villans just re-buy (at least pre black firday).

I am learning to love the Bounty tourneys too. Kind of awsome that you can win your buy in back without making it in the money... Helps soften the blow when you get sucked out on the bubble.

yea the bounty tournies are def more attractive, especially at micro....from my experience at least, the rebuy/addon ones are just so donk-infested that its pointless to play them unless ur really willing to rebuy at least once or twice...freezeouts and bounty are the only tournies i'll play until i've got the roll to play tournies at a level where i wont have to be too afraid of donks
