So I've come to the conclusion that I prefer MTTs over any other form of poker. I plan on depositing at least $2,000 on Bovada and really focusing on MTTs and that's it. Anyways, I wanted to ask you guys how can I improve my game more. Which training site is best? What is one must read MTT book? What are some important tools that can be used on Bovada? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks guys!

Cardschat Strategy Articles

There are Strategy articles right here on cardschat where you can find MTT strategies which will improve your game as i get the impression that you are fairly new to poker. Books that i can recommend is Super System by the godfather of poker itself, the legendary Mr. Doyle Brunson. The more you play, the more you'll learn and always remember to manage your bankroll. There are also lots of videos on the internet to look for. :)

MTT's have a lot on concept that you need to know. They are different to SnG's and Cash Games. What I found useful is my ability to play heads up in MTT's. Most players can't play heads up that well, but I do it a lot, so I can beat players in heads up matches a lot even with a 2:1 disadvantage.

A good strategy I used was to play four handed and slowly go up. So then I played single table six handed SNG's, then single table nine handed SNG's, then two table SNG's, then three tables, then five all the way to as high as I could go (which was at the time 180 man SNG's).

Just to point out that most of the money is made in the top three in an MTT, so you need great short handed skills (like I had). So practicing the way I did was great. But what I was clumsy enough to do was use all my bankroll up, so I had to start again.

Good luck with your attempts!

As mentioned already, there are TONS of free articles on this and other forums, as well as video sources such as Youtube. I really don't think a training site has much more to offer you frankly, unless paying money for a "one stop shop" is worth it to you. But even then I think you're doing yourself a dis-service.

I'm also concerned about that big of a deposit.. seems you could learn the games for much less? Depositing that much is going to tempt you to take shots at a level that you probably shouldn't be yet...

I'd be happy to point you to a few free resources I'm aware of if you want. Just PM me.

Your $2000 BR is so big.
Anyway, nice strategy just to focus on MTT since you already have a massive BR. Actually Im joining cash games and SNG just to get buyins for MTT.
The best books for MTT for me is Dan Harrington books.

Goodluck...

When i play MTT i usually play fairly aggressive in the cheap rounds (early). The cards are cheap, and you could double up (but BE PREPARED TO FOLD!). I am very careful not to get in deep unless i'm confident, because early in the game the bingo players are going nuts.
In mid game i am much more conservative, mostly looking at good hands, but also looking for cheap cards....
Then in late game i get aggressive again, when the blinds are big.

Early in MTT it is hard to profile the players, because they are changing tables so often, but when the game shrinks to fewer tables the players are more likely to be at the same table long enough to profile them.

How much have you played and at what levels? Your knowledge and ability levels determine what level of books, vids and other study are appropriate for you.

As for what buyin level to play, start small and work your way up according to how you progress along your learning curve. Play at levels appropriate to your ability, not higher because you have a large enough BR.
