What is the best strategy during the re-buy period?, as I find myself the short stack most of the time by the time the re-buy period is over, I dont care to re-buy too many times as my bankroll is not large but the money is nice if I can make the final table. All those who play at pokerstars know which tourney it is (3.30+r 20,000 guaranteed pot).any advice would be appreciated.

It just depends. when i play it, i gamble in the first hour way more then i usually would, playing almost anything (suited connectors, any pair, almost any ace, and two faces) if there's enough money in the pot, though lately i've been trying to be a little more conservitive, seeing a lot of flops but waiting for good hands. You'll always get action during the rebuy peroid. I guess my only real advice is, go into it prepaired to rebuy as often as it takes. if you've afraid to go broke before the first hour ends, you're playing way too tight. Also, some people will push all in with literally anything with hopes of doubleing up, 9-3's, J-2, 10-7, weak hands. try to mark those players, knowing you can play lesser hands against them and that they'll be more likely to give you action when you get a good hand.

There are a couple of good threads on this already so you might want to do a search. Quick general answer, predetermine how many times you are willing to re-buy & don't exceed that. Always take advantage of the add-on if you make it that far.

Daniel Negreanu shows up to the 1k rebuy with 30k, this should tell people something I guess :) (yep, he's rich!;))

The most successful rebuy player I have seen online is ComeOnPhish at party poker. You would struggle to find anyone with a higher % of final tables reached in the $33 rebuys. He certainly uses the rebuy period to establish a substantial stack. Personally I recommend that is the way to go, although it obviously isnt impossible to win one without rebuying ;)

I dont care to re-buy too many times

The best strategy would be 'don't play rebuys', then. There's no way you can expect to do well in these things if you have any sort of 'fear' of rebuying.

Johnny Bax at Stars in an absolute monster in the $100+9 rebuys there. If you're gonna play a rebuy tourney, count on budgeting 5 buy-ins, at a minimum, for these.

i recently heard of a very interesting rebuy strategy

people will go all in preflop a lot with class A or B cards just to get a lot of chips at his table before switching to serious-play(once rebuy session is over).

more chips at your table = more chance of someone from your table winning(ie. - you)

also, you may also win a huge pot and with the addon have a nice stack

Personally I never (any more) play in rebuys online as I find those tourneys to be even larger donkfests than normal. And that is saying something.

Now this may be different at the higher price tourneys but on the low end where the maniacs are, it is donkfest galore. I haven't played in any high price rebuys ever before, so I can't comment there.

My Strategy is to Re-buy 1 time and ALWAYS add-on at the break! There have been some discussions on here that go very deep into the "ADD-ON" question. It was so deep that it convinced me to just add-on all the time! Once I Re-buy once and lose, I do NOT Re-buy again. This is just my preference. I would say to set your "Re-buy limit" and stick to it. Just because mine is 1 does not make it right. If you decide that 3 is your re-buy limit DO NOT re-buy more than 3 times. Kind of like bankroll management (Stick to your limit)

Personally I never (any more) play in re-buys on line as I find those tourneys to be even larger donkfests than normal.

Us players on here, that have some experience should WANT to play in a Donkfest, right? Is that not who we want our opponents to be? I will agree with everyone that the beats are horrible in these! But remember, when you lose with AA vs. 72, yes is sucks. But thats the kind if player we want to play against!

I totally agree with you about playing with donks. They truly are the long term bread and butter for us. I've just found in my personal experience that the cheap rebuys tend to have even more and looser donks in them making multiple callers and suckouts that much more likely. I prefer to stick to the standard donk groups that show up in freeze outs or the larger rebuys. So in a way, I do have a rebuy strategy which is don't rebuy. Even when I bought into a rebuy tourney, I didn't typically rebuy. However, I always took the add on. :) Guess rebuys just aren't my thing.

I can't stand the rebuys with my bankroll being so low. More than likely why I can't get past the half way point of a tournament very often:p

i think if u need to make a rebuy make only one on the begining
i dont understand addon or rebuy just near break
u cant do more with 1k when all top players have 20-30k
u have to be too lucky to win it

There are only 2 ways to play re-buys in my opinion.

1st way is to treat it as a freezout, once you lose that is it. Call it a day and find another tourney. Expect to lose against some donk calling with garbage cause it will happen more in a re-buy compared to a freezout.

2nd Is expect to re-buy while treating it as a freezout. Automatically have re-buy set just in case you do get sucked out. Like someone says have a set limit though on how many re-buys you plan on doing. I normally did 2 maybe 3 tops. After the add-on then the donkfest isn't so bad.

Now in both cases you get to the add-on part. Add-on, I personally say nothing like putting more ammo into your arsenal.
