I mostly play 180 mans now a bit. 180 mans definitely has lot of downswings and upswings and having 200 buyin up or downswings is very common. I'm not sure but i believe having 500 buyin downswing could be possible for a winning player at 180s. The thing about 180s is you can definitely go on a long downswing but you could also have big upswing as well but with 180 mans, you can't really win that much money. From looking at sharkscope... it doesn't appear that even the top regs make that much.
I know this forum has lot of ppl that play mtts only. My questions i have for these are this.
1. How many tables do you typically play a day and at once. I heard that most ppl who play mtt should never play more than 16 table at the very max. I heard between 8-12 is the best. However if thats the case, how do you get much volume then? Im curious how much tournaments does someone who play mtt only full time a month plays. Im guessing something like 500 tournaments a month?
2. When you play mtt... typically how long do you start and end your session? Obviously you want to go long because that would mean you go deep. Im curious how everyones schedule would be like for this and if someone could tell me how their schedule would be like. Such as okay start grinding at 9am or 2pm depending on your time zone.
3. This is the one thing that makes me not want to play mtt. At least with 180 mans, after few hours or end of day, i know that if i play 2 straight weeks, i know it would be hard for me to not profit even 2-3 days. For MTT.... its like you aren't making any money until you are deep in a tournament. A min cash is pretty useless since you don't even get your original buyin back. Yes getting down to the final 100 should give a decent amt back but it isn't more than 8 times maybe of your buyin? It seems like unless you have any final tables or top 3, mtt are very hard to make money. Also i read lot of ppl talk about downswings. For someone that woudl play say $11-$55 tournaments, how do you handle when you brick 25 tournaments for the day and it repeats like this for 2 weeks. Obviously thats a very low sample because assuming you play say 6 days a week, that would be 300 tournaments in 2 week which is small sample. But say you brick every tournament for the day and are down $500 in buyins let say. Then you do this for the next 2 weeks. You would be down $6000 in 2 weeks. And if you ever want to win money... its a long process b/c its a tournament. Its not like cash game or sng or even 180 man mtt where you could win 500 for the day etc.
