Hey Everyone,
I joined the site last night and was going to start posting on the forums for some advice, but did not get the chance last night. So I have been playing a lot of micro .01/.02 cash games and SNGs at party poker as they have a scratch card promotion that gives you a dollar or two once in a while. I managed to turn my $1 into $20, down to $1 (from tilt from my one bad hand... tilt is the only thing as far as I know that is preventing me from building a bankroll lol) and back up to $8. A few years ago a played a lot of hands at $1/$2 cash tables and seemed to have less variance and easier time at those stakes than the micros due to the amount of people who will stack in micros chasing that gutshot straight and seemingly hitting it on me so i do have experience against higher stakes players but this was years ago.
So they have a 2nd scratch card promotion, that if you get 5 points through generating rake throughout the week you get a bigger prize. This for me was a $220 ticket to the $200,000 gaurenteed tournament. I am quite pumped about this.
The tournament is 5000 starting chips, with blind levels at 20 minutes. This is much much different than any other tournament I have been in terms of starting chips, and a much bigger increase in blind changes.
So for me, it am thinking it means I can be a bit more patience on waiting on good hands in good position rather than having to shove half the tournament.
Has anyone had any experience in these types of tournaments, I am guessing the player pool with be under 500, and I am also guessing the players will be much much better than the majority I encounter now. So what are some main things i need to be aware of or some key advice you may have?
