Hey!

First of all, i don't like rebuys at all.. I think if a player is eliminated he should stay out. Anyways, if i play a rebuy, for example last night in a sunday million satelite cause i saw there was some nice overlay in it, i got kicked out prety fast to some donk who got lucky. I rebuyed because i saw my table was very weak. I think this is important to consider a rebuy. Also if the blinds are to high. Lets say you rebuy and you only get 5 big blinds you shouldn't rebuy. And if you're for example playing a re-buy tournament for a satelite, make sure you don't rebuy more then the actual tournament would cost. You could've also registered directly in the tournament instead.

Hope it helps.

It all depends on your bankroll if it is big ( 3000 bi ), it is possible not do limited number of rebuys and show very agrassive game...

But it is better to find a middle, enough only 5-6 rebuys , first rebuy that would double your stack, and 2 rebuy if not lucky and you lost stack ,one need for addon..

It depends.

If I spent 3 rebuys and my stack doesnt make on the money (even if I make add-on), I would not plan to make another one if I bust.

You can assess the situation if another rebuy is necessary or not.

How to bullet play

hi all

there are some games where you can rebuy and if its cheap people thend to go crazy

i tend to play these games trying to chip up as fast as possible and then just waiting for the rebuy to end before getting in deep, is this the right way to play?

when your playing with suicidal players that have a bigger bank than you(me) i try to avoid tham at all cost becouse they will go all in with any thing and since they have more bullets than me they can end up on the bright side since they can keep the fire on for longer...

is there a better way to save cash and chip up on bullet players?

i agree with pokerfunkid it depends on the table and the blinds
sometimes i see players rebuy more than the torunament would cost witch is just stupid since your paying more for the satalite than the reall deal lol

this also applays to add-on some games its just not worth it after 60min of playing why would you pay a add-on that only gives you 2 or 3blinds -.-

my advice is see all of this before you buy in and have in your mind a max that you want to spend and dont pass that point

personly i know its hard to have limit rebuy and not rebuying pass a certain point of the blinds but it saves your bank on the long run
if the racio is bigger i will have more rebuys if its less i will have less rebuys
i have have a diferent number of rebuys from a tournament where you pay 1$ to buy-in and have 3k of a total pot than one with a 1$ buy-in and an 20k pot

I play at FF a lot and all their tournys have a rebuy and add on but no late registration. So they depend on those to cover the GTD. I always rebuy as soon as I get below 2000 just so I will have the chips to cover most players. But if I don't make it to the first break, I'm out. But if I do make it I add on because most players do, and it helps with the high blinds. It has help me most of the time to reach the money, and most of the time I at least get my money back.

I dont usually play rebuys, but if I do I like to keep my rebuys + add-on around where the min cash pays out. So, if the min cash is paying out $6 is a $1 rebuy, then I'm willing to spend $6 on rebuys + add-on so I know I can at least break even. Paying less is great, but I wont spend more. I usually like to buy-in and rebuy immediately to double my stack.

It also depends where the blind levels are and the type of tournament it is. I want at least 50BBs when I sit down (buy-in + rebuy). More is great, of course. Also, it depends on the structure. I'd rather sit at a regular tournament with 12 min blinds with 50BBs than I would at a turbo tournament with 5 min blinds and 50BBs.

Another option I like to take with with rebuys is to wait near the very end of the late registration. Then buy-in, rebuy, and then take the add-on. So, if the starting stack is 2000 + 2000 (rebuy) + 4000 (add-on), you're starting with an 8K stack and it's after the rebuy, so you can play it just like a regular tournament now. Depending on the structure of the tournament and length of late registration, you're usually sitting around 35-50BBs and around average stack. So, you have plenty of room to do well, IMO. I find this method to be my best approach with rebuys if there is a good prize-pool to go after.

In general you want to treat a rebuy as you would for correct bankroll management. If you have like a bankroll enough for $5 games you shouldn't really be playing 5 rebuys. Most are fast structures so you can burn through a lot quickly. The exception for me is in standard speed tournaments especially when I feel I have an edge I will ignore correct br management. Because say you double rebuy and add-on your effectively playing a $15 games and if it's a fast structure varience is super high and before you know where you are, you might be in for $50.

As for playing them, I usually don't have a limit unless im playing incorrect bank roll management then I would limit myself. The idea of rebuys though is to take much more marginal spots and even -ev spots because we can't bust and have a chance of doubling or tripling etc. like in a rebuy I'm stacking off 100bb with any pair nearly always.

Rebuys also attract tons of fish have decent prize pools and in my opinion my favourite and probably most profitable tournaments.

Just make sure before you join a rebuy tournament.

What strategy are you going to use?

Multible rebuys? really aggressive trying to accumulate chips but just repop til you chip up...

Single bullet, play tight and use the strategy above to your advantage and let them be maniacs while u sit tight and weap the awards without much danger :) but you might fall way behind the maniacs who are willing to risk a lot. so theres pro's and cons for each

I wonder about rebuys too. The other day I rebought late into the rebuy period which was really foolish considering the size of the blinds and the other stack. I didn't make it to the add-on and don't think I would of if I did. Currently, I am going with not spending more than my buy-in limit on any one tourney. If the buy in is low, i.e. only half my limit requirement, I'll take the rebuy, but now I know only to do it pretty early on.

Add-ons are a different story sort of. I've taken a few and only one time do I think it helped. If you are really short stacked the add-on is really not going to help much in a large tourney. If you have a big stack the extra chips probably don't increase your $equity very much. I'm sure there is a sweet spot but it would be tough to calculate or even estimate, certainly on the fly.

One last note. Sorry, but I think most rebuys are left on the table. I played a tourney this morning where I won a coin flip and doubled up. The guy rebought and went all-in the very next hand. I had AKo so I called him and double up again (he had a rag ace). He bought in again and I guess decided he better play ABC poker for a while.

I do up to two rebuys because
after the third will be difficult to
concentrate and play normally

Normally I play relaxt so I don't have to rebuy, but personally i hate rebuy tournaments haha. If you win from a player and he rebuys and he finally wins the tournament, it's nothing more than luck.

Hello! Tell me, is it worth playing rebuy tournaments, if the Bank will not allow you to make 3 or more of the rebuy???

In rebuy tournaments, you have to be very tight in the beginning, some players will move all in with medium-good hands and some times it goes to be just a bingo party !! So you can build a decent stack chips playing just premium cards or speculative hands without investing too much in preflop.
The payout in those tournaments is always better than freezout, example for 2$ entry you can get a minimum payout of 10$.

@slawa1986, surely, rebuy tourney is not for you.

You have to be very deep to be on the money (compared to standard game payout structure). Meaning have to rebuy many times.

I'd have to disagree with this.

The idea of a rebuy tournament is to accumulate chips more so than a freeze out because we can never bust out. We shouldn't be entering a tournament if we are prepared to fire several bullets. Given people do play a lot more LAG and ranges widen massively we should be taking every coin flip nearly and possibly even some slightly -EV calls which you would fold in a freeze out with the chance of building out stack.

With a rebut tourney I normally expect to spend double or triple the buy-in to compensate for my losses due to loose play. I typically play with the field of play and tighten up when necessary. The reason is because of everyone is playing loose, your best hand won't usually hold because other players are trying to double up knowing that they can rebut. Therefore, you have other hands in let's say in an all in situation that wouldn't normally be there in a shootout tournament which devalues your hand. This is how I play but it's an interesting topic to discuss!

If you play rebuy tournaments always be ready to rebuy. Never enter if you only can afford buy in. But do not go too crazy because if you make several buy ins you muast go deep in the money just to make even.

I don't really play online, I play mostly live tournaments. So a lot of the tournaments I play I have to travel to get to. Even if I'm driving to my local casino/card room, there is time involved so I'm always prepared to fire several bullets since I've spent time and money to get there. In the case of unlimited rebuys or reentries I will always set myself a limit (like 3). I think the most I ever did was 4 and both time I did that I cashed.

I always take my mental state into account too. Is there a reason I busted other than getting unlucky in a hand? If I'm not playing well I won't rebuy (or I'll rebuy once only). Also if I do rebuy later in the tournament how will my stack be? I don't really like rebuying at the end of the rebuy period since my stack usually only has one or two moves at that point.

And as everyone else has said, bankroll management is very important, don't rebuy if you can't afford it. However, you shouldn't play a rebuy tournament in the first place if you can't afford 2 or 3 bullets.

I my opinion (and thats the way I play), when we start a tournament the first thing to do it's make 1 rebuy before we play. Then we have to play to achieve the add-on period. Once you get there, you shoul make the add-on (unless you have a lot of chips). One rebuy in the begining and the add-on it's the way you have to play.

depends largely on your bankroll, do a good proportion of the price compared to rebuy, I do not normally use, just addon
