I was wondering if it's better to play during this period or wait until it's almost over?

People use different strategies in the re-buys. A lot of people play very loose because they want to double and triple up and know they can re-buy if it fails.

I play a lot of re-buys. I will get all of my chips in more often during the re-buy period with good hands - but I am still somewhat selective. I do the initial re-buy and the add-on and prefer not to have to re-buy more than once or twice - and that works for me.

I think you are better off buying in early, as dakota said dont be afraid to get your chips in with your good hands. Some players (alot of players imo) are very loose in the re buy period. So if you wait for your premium hands and be patient, you could enter the tourney after the break with a healty stack at the looser players expense!

Buying in at after the rebuy period is over leaves you at a big disadvantage stack wise, + the blinds will be higher in proportion to ur stack.

I have done both and have to say that the results are about the same. Many times when I buy in early and have rebought 2 or 3 times (my max), I find my stack to be somewhere btwn 1500 and 3000 and am unable to rebuy at the end of the rebuy period, which affords me less chips than if I waited until the last minute to buy in. So now with the addon I still have less than if I would have waited.....and man that gets me pissed.

i agree with the admin...much people play very loose and so if you had a good hand is more probably that you will be paid also in my opinion you have to play really tught with only really good hands

I have been dabbling in rebuy events lately and would consider myself amongst those that plays loose early. I'm not a total psycho (don't have the bankroll yet!) but I have no problem shipping a fresh double rebuy with any suited ace, suited connector, etc. Strategically, the really loose method of play gives you the best odds of winning the tournament as having a huge stack allows for a great many +EV moves that might not otherwise be there. Ultimately, it depends on your table during the rebuy period...being a maniac can cost you a lot of money if the rest of the people at your table treat the tourney like a freezeout.

Honestly, I think if you're going to play rebuy MTT's you should probably get in early and be fairly loose. Having a huge stack from the get-go is such a huge upside and really makes going deep easier. With regards to looseness, as you go up in buy-in that may change...I'm not sure the players in like a 50R or 100R are going to be quite as gamble-y as the 20R or lower.

Either way, I'd say play the rebuy tourney from as early a stage as possible and go for a big stack. You play these MTTs to take it down and that's what gives you the best chance. For BRM treat any rebuy tourney as at least 7x the listed buyin. Maybe more, depending on how you like to play...but even if you're going to be nitty in the rebuy period I'd think 4-5x buy-in is a reasonable price to assign a rebuy tourney.
