I won't bore you with too many details. I was in my third ever Casino live tournament, me and another guy in hand,, I'm in position, I have pocket jacks,, I raise before the flop etc. After the turn I check out of turn (DOH) of course he bets 2000 I fold. The hand doesn't matter, my question is , am I committed to the check (call) or can I raise after checking out of turn ?? Thanks

I've always heard that if the action in front of you changes, your action is not binding. So you should be free to raise, call, or fold here. Expect negative looks/comments as others will think you were angleshooting if you check out of turn, then raise, though.

Action has changed so your not binded to anything, plus you acted out of turn so you are not held to the check there either..So to answer your question yes.

If he acts and bets, you should be able to raise because action has changed. By no means are you obliged to just call.

that happened to me in a turney in vegas, but my wager crossed the imaginary line (the point of no return) so at that point I was commited to the amount that I had placed in front of me. I only made that mistake once in my poker playing.
