I am a little familiar with ICM in STT but I am having a hard time using it in MTT. When is the right time to take it into account in a MTT? Short stack with 5 or less BB, approaching the bubble, or FT?

In a MTT you can completely disregard ICM all together (with certain, rare exceptions).

Thinking about ICM in a MTT will make you a nit. :)

What do you mean by ICM?I doubt this ICM is the same as what I know which is interdependent chip model.

Basically what he said. ICM is definitely more of a SNG-related concept and isn't really applicable in MTTs because of the flat payout structures they tend to have. Once you get to the final table and the difference between payouts increases, it can become a consideration.

'Kill Everyone' is a really good read if you're interested in a more in-depth look at ICM and how it does and doesn't apply in MTTs.

Independent Chip Model :)

This is some bad advice right here. Early in a tournament ICM doesn't matter much, but when u start getting close to the money, it is very important to consider it. ICM is what makes tournament strategy so different from cash game strategy.

Except it doesn't apply so much in most MTT bubbles because mincashing in an MTT is nowhere near as big a deal as mincashing in an STT is.
