Question About Home Game Payouts

We play 2 sit n goes a night.

Each one is $5

We usually have 4-8 players, but 5 is the most common.

How should the payouts be?

We have done 2 ways

1. 1st gets $20, second gets $5

2. 1st gets $15, second gets $10

Everyone usually pays in $5 bills.

Which way is better ?

If you do it the 1st way do people usually chop or do they play it out?

Probably 2nd way.

Sorry newbie question: What does chop mean?

Like 50/50?

We play it out until 1 person busts

Winner take all. Not enough moola to split.

Yeah I mean do the last 2 players ever make a deal to split up the prize pool?

No because usually 1 guy has a huge chip lead, and the other guy has like 3 BB left lol

Thats what I was leaning towards, but I doubt my friends would go for it.

The main reason why is because last night, I won the first tourney which I received $15.

I lost early in the 2nd tourney (damn pocket jacks ran into AK)

So my net gain for the night was only $5 (1st tourney (-$5) + 2nd tourney (-$5)

= $-10 +(Tourney win $15)=

-10 + 15 = $5

We usually pay second place gets their money back. I vote for 20/5.

Personally I'd go for $20/$5 but really it's the players in the game you should be asking, not us.
