Hi. I was reading snowmobilers thread about his MTT strategy. Can someone explain ICM and what it stands for. In snowmobilers article he refer's to "M" alot, his "M", his opponents "M", is that the M in ICM? If you could give me a scenario of how its used to your advantage i would appreciate. Thank you in advance for the feedback.

ICM = Independent Chip Model. It determines what your chips stack's value is in real dollars.

M = The ratio between your chip stack and the total of blinds and antes. In other words, it's how many orbits you can last before being blinded off. If you have 1000 in chips and the blinds are 50/100, you M = 6.67

This is Harrington's preferred method of describing how strong your position is in the tournament. However it seems many online players prefer to use # of big blinds as opposed to M.

This concept of M is separate from "ICM"

Exactly what the above poster said. I would highly recommend reading the Harrington on Hold' em series, as it will help a lot and show how you can use your M to help your game.
