Qualifying Tournaments - Enough Is Enough

If I've seen it once, I've seen it a hundred times. It's late in a qualifying tournament. 3/4ths of the field has been eliminated. A player is in the top 10 and all he/she needs is a top 100 finish and the idiot is still playing hands. He busts out. Why????????

Bleh I made a stupid play in a tournament just now.

Down to 12 players short stack goes all in on my big blind. Chip leader calls so I don't bother calling the extra to see the flop.

Turns out I would have won the hand and knocked him out.

Few hands later i get AK on the button raise it up and same guy I would have knocked out raises all in. I call (not much more) and he had AA.

Limp into the final table in 9th place and bust out first when my K high blind steal from the cut off gets called by QQ on the button.

Still can't really moan didn't have a higher pocket pair than 99 all tournament. Played well up until that point, but still kicking myself over a couple of hands at the end.
