pure bounty tournaments

party poker has a tournament called "pure bounty," which is a $10+$1 NLHE MTT where the only prize is $10 bounties (i.e. there is no prize structure and nothing is awarded for finishing order, but each opponent you eliminate gets you $10). I just played one and got two bounties for a nice $9 profit over maybe 20 minutes of play. If I hadn't been eliminated by a shill I'd still be playing.

Has anyone else had experience with these types of tournaments? They seem to be a nice way to make a quick buck.

I haven't seen someone complain of that in a while lol...

First though on these tournaments: you'd make more money playing cash, less rake+table selection+seat changes, etc.

I tried playing cash and got like -400BB variance. Mind you, I was playing limit, and every table I sat down at had the worst chasing fish in existence. Anyone with Ace-Ten in their hand would max raise all the way through and then catch a lucky ace on the river. It was the worst poker experience I've ever had. Thanks for the bad advice.

Meanwhile, I played the pure bounty tournament yesterday again and got FOUR bounties this time for a nice profit of $29 in about an hour and a half. I also played a regular bounty tournament (where half the buyin goes to the prize structure and half for bounties) and got three bounties and came out $4 ahead. So those tournaments are what I'm going to be sticking with.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Play where you feel most comfortable and profitable. Nice job and keep up the good work

Yesterday I played two tournaments and didn't get any bounties, but that's just variance. Overall I'm still $12 ahead over four short tournaments.

There don't seem to be any pure bounty tournaments listed in today's tournament list, tho. I wonder if they cancelled them at the end of February.
