Hello Cardschat,
As of late I've had very many deep run's (for example 100th out of 5200 entrances, and 26th of 2100 etc) and I mean ALOT of these, very often I find myself in the top 20-100th, but I struggle to close them, and very rarely see myself on the FT(Where the real money is).
Which videoes, articles, podcasts and so on do you recommend for me to get better at this stage of the tournament?

I bought ICMIZER 2 pro yesterday, to be able to get better at shove/fold situations, as I think this is one of the things I struggle with, that I play way too tight in the later stages of the tournament.

Thanks alot for all the help I can get,

Regards,

I have this same problem. I'm a heads up player giving mtt's a stab, I have had many cashes just only ever min/mid cashes. I find it hard to progress as the final table gets closer.

It sounds like you're already doing the right things to me. Just remember there's a lot of variance in MTTs, and even after making the final 100 it's still fairly unlikely to make the FT.

Its depend on how far you're willing to take the risk around the bubble as many of players tend to tightened up.

I don't think any book can help u, getting this far into any tornys ,u have to have a good bit off luck along the way. but steeling and three betting and allins cant be learnt reeding books . the more u watch the other players game the more u learn

Does everybody review their sessions after a session? I see people saying you should always review I only find myself reviewing a couple of key hands but not much

I usually don't review much more than you Moe. A few key hands to see if I made a good move or bad one. Is there much sense in reviewing a whole session, unless it is to get as much information on other players? I guess it is a personal preference.

Some day your luck shall turn and you will hit the final table, just persevere. Im stil waiting for my big cash. I came 56 on the 8.80 bounty builder on saturday, took me 6.5 hours. I cashed for 38 usd and about 50 in bounties but i was sick, the money on the final table was huge for my bankroll

It depends on how many time you hit the final table with big payout.Min cash only would hurt your ROI.But good mtts players always aim for the win thus taking more risk. One win could equal to dozens min cash.

In most tournaments people's priorities change once the bubble bursts and the players start deciding whether there gonna be happy with slow to mid level cash or there going for the big stack and final table, You really need to pay attention to push fold charts, since the decisions will be there frequently to call off your stack. Pay attention to when the pay jumps happen, once a new tier is opened everyone is less tight and people start busting again. Gotta be patient. You came all that way don't make a bad loose call. Tournaments are still about long term survival and being patient, a lot of bad players get ancy and aren't used to Long tournaments and u can play into those impatient people

stick to your hand range after bubbles. play less. let the LAG do the bluffs.
that may keep you move a little forward.

juz pay more attention to the reactions and take notes in every shoving hands your op did

Tag the TAGs and LAGs and try to sploit their position and try to be offensive against LAG and defensive against TAG.

Really good advice paul. The key word is patience if your chip stack and blind levels warrant. Very many times you see people stack off with bigger stacks and you can move up the ladder. The biggest mistake I see is people taking marginal hands against big stacks because they panicked and thought the big stack was just trying to steal. Sometimes, big stacks get monster hands.

Congrats man running that deep in a huge field like the bounty builders bring is still very good! Yeah when I play my A game I find reaching the bubble with 20-25bb fine problem with being at that level is once the bubble bursts its push/fold time which is when my luck runs out.

Post bubble play I find myself being card dead for a long time eventually pushing all in with 8bb with any Ax if I managed to get dealt an A.

Yeah my ROI for MTT's sucks right now I'm not going to lie. I've had most of my poker 'success' with HU cash/Sng

From being mainly a HU player I'm pretty fluent in Push/Fold eq charts, I think my main problem is being to aggressive post bubble, before the bubble bursts I get very aggressive opening with a lot more of my range into short stacks and this seems to work pretty well, Sometimes we get 3bet/shoved on but we can happily fold no one seems to slow play around the bubble its all in or fold I've noticed.

Every bust I've had when I look back when reviewing it's always stupid calls I've made with bottom of my range cards. Is it better to fold down to 10bb when card dead or should we make a move before?

Same recommendation that I'd have for many who want to improve their game.... Great articles and resources right here on cards chat. As far as books The mental game of poker volumes 1 & 2 by Jared Tendler are incredibly valuable and should be read through while taking notes and completing the tasks layed out within. Elements of poker is a great read by Tommy Angelo. Some of the book recommendations are gonna be based on where you think your strengths and weaknesses are tho too. And that is where the mental game will help. For a great podcast I like thinking poker by Andrew brokos and Nate Mavis. These guys are amazing and have great guests, they also have additional resources on their site (articles/books/etc). Good luck and good job setting goals! Making the final table is a great goal to have! I recently set a goal to have 1 million in chips in a live poker tournament.... I have never done this but hope to in the next few weeks when I take on a local bigger event! :)
