Hey guys, a little help....I think I know what I am doing wrong. I just need some clarification. I always get a big stack during the Late reg period. Then after that time before the money bubble I always seem to lose it. Should I tighten up my range a little more since I have enough chips to make me a threat even down to the bubble? or should I continue playing aggressive.....I don't think continuing to play aggressive works when I have a big stack like that because I always bust out, where as I could've been more patient and waited to open up my game.

What happens is that blinds go up and your stack shrinks very quickly. You need to be taking down the blinds and ante's (or more) at least once every orbit or you will be blinded out.

Example, you have 40BB. It costs 2.5 BB an orbit (including antes). Next level the blinds double and you have 20BB and still costs 2.5BB an orbit.

It goes fast, you have to get a little more aggressive to keep up.

If you got a big chip stack or you've gone card dead & your gonna try and finish with a minimum cash out tighten up near the bubble. If your gonna try & win a tourney I think you need to be more aggressive, try to pick up blinds and play position low chips stacks are going to fold near bubble unless they have a premium pair,Ace high with something or if your heads up they might challenge you with all in pre flop with small pocket pairs. That's how I try to play anyhow.GL on the tables.

Do you want to cash or win? If you want to win first add up all the chips in play and divide by nine, that is the amount you need to shoot for to reach the final table. I have found most tournies start out loose then tighten up near the bubble then loosen again after. Imho you should play as many pots as you can cheaply play early then steal as the bubble nears. You cannot sit around and wait for cards and win many tournies. Good luck.

IMHO, and from my experiences, you are better off making the money than adopting that 'in it to win it' before you are ITM. I can count more times when I limped into the money and won it, than I can when I broke the bubble with the chip lead and kept it.

Play more aggresive. You will need some luck since you have less hands, the blinds are higher.

With a superior average stack on bubble , you have to play more agressive on position , too much players play super tight when it s bubble time, taking average of that let you go far in tournament with large size of players.
Do not play passive or limp on that time, cause you will face an all in 90% of the time.

Just be TA.

You can wait and pass bubble first then continue your aggression. At least your on the money.

What I know, being a chip leader is temporary.

All in. Kidding man play as usual if your chips are lower than the rest then get aggressive and win pots and if you feel you have the best hand or someone is bluffing by raising just call them down. You have to take chances which might just double your chip stack at these stages.

Because you have less time because blinds are increasing, it is beneficial to be aggro in certain spots that you think you will win. Short stacks in late reg require some amount of luck if you simply play ABC poker.

you need to tighten up and adjust how aggressive you are. if you're consistently falling out of the money, then it's clear your current strategy isn't working. pick your spots, use your position more effectively. be careful of the deep stacks b/c i've noticed in the micro stakes sng/mtt, they'll call anything up until the bubble.

Your game after the bubble will depend on many factors but if you do not want to lose all the chips you have to rebuild his game, maybe play more tight until you have a big stack, then all bluff and less would be settled.

Play extremely tight when your opponents are aggressive, and be super aggressive when your opponents play tight. Your stack may increase basing on both blind stealing and being called by worse hands.

I believe you are confusing two things. Tight/loose and aggressive/passive. Your opponents could be tight aggressive (tag) or loose aggressive (lag), loose passive and tight passive opponents would generally be fish. There are only a few situations where being passive will be the right play.

It's better to raise preflop much more to those lower stack and avoid fighting against those chip lead players, especially at the late registration period! Coz short stack tends to play loose than others to chase the loss!

I am not confusing. If your opponents are all TAGs, you shall be aggressive preflop, and tight postflop.

Btw, small ball players are LP but they still can win lots of tournaments.

Try to steal more blind in the middle phase.
