I was recently playing in the $11 sunday storm and had a decent stack at 50bb's (80th place at this point) with about 1000 people remaining and on my right is another player with the same size stack as myself. I had been playing fairly tight throughout the tournament picking my best plays to get value and my bluffs were working and stealing a fair amount of blinds as I was at a larger stack size then the rest of the table. What do I need to do when the player on my right (with a stack of 50-60bb's as well) is stealing the blinds almost every hand and not giving me any chance to steal myself ? I'd like to add that in about 20 hands or so I was basically card dead the entire time. Is my only option to 3-bet bluff my opponent in the hopes that he folds because the cards I have are not strong enough to carry on with?

Thanks in advance for the help:)

You answered your question. Fight fire with fire. Do you really think he has 20 straight great hands? To beat a lunatic you have to be willing to get a little crazy yourself.

Of course that's only in a MTT. If you defend your blinds in a cash game it's pointless. Just wait them out.

As you said , 3-bet bluff in position and a C-bet post-flop will make it your way , he can't have a good hand everytime

yeah I think the C-bet is what would work best in that scenario actually because being an aggressive player he'll probably call the 3-bet seeing that i'm getting sick of being raised but after the C-bet he's less likely to countinue
good point!

For me it depends on your position in the hand. You're not the only player he's up against, so don't take the burden entirely on yourself, others are frustrated as well. He's just spoiling your style of play. I'd wait for a very good hand and smooth call and trap him in a multiplayer situation. In my opinion that will slow him down, and allow you to play your game.

For me , what I do is I challenge him a few times so he knows that i'm not intimidated by his raises.

Make him fold !!!

You gotta be willing to put up a fight. 3 betting and reraise when in position, this will show him that you are not gonna let him run you over. He will stop attacking you if you show him your not gonna put up with his antics. He's not strong every time obviously.
