Hi all,
I don't know if I'm posting at the right place because it could have been posted in another theme, but anyway:
7 years ago, I posted the story following in another poker forum and I had several people laughing at me because of the buy-in. So here I come again posting the same exact S&G hoping I'll have better comments than having everybody laughing at me (maybe you were one of them?):
"Hi everybody,
I want to share with you a big thing that happened to me and that I'm proud of. I didn't have any money left in my Everest poker account. The only thing I had left was my Summit Points. I was already kind of angry after a bad beat I suffered which killed all my remaining bankroll (AK vs 77 with an A on the flop and a 7 came on the turn). So I've decided to make a 1.10$ PLO tournament (6 players) with some of my SP. I was playing tight because the players are killing each other at the beginning of an Omaha tournament. I catch AAKs2s, a hand that I know is in good shape if all-in preflop. And that's what happened: heads up all-in vs a player I consider a little bit weirdo. He shows AKJT all unsuited. I'm a favorite 73%-25% on this one. The flop comes AKQ and the board don't give me any pair on turn or river.
I'm down to 425 chips and all 6 players are sill alive. I keep my head up high and say to myself that I absolutely want to finish in the money. The table is very passive so I can see some cheap flops. Some hands later, I succeed by doubling up against my same weirdo guy which gives me now a stack of 1620.
Two hands later, I pick up KKxx single suited. Not as good as AA, but if I could get all-in preflop again, I have great odds. Same weirdo guy eends up all-in preflop against me: KsK8s5 vs AsKQs3. I'm a favorite 58 to 42. OK, a bit of a coin flip, but still ahead! The !@# guy catches two 3 and win the hand with 3 of a kind.
Down again to 790 and the blinds are now 50-100. 5 players remains. I'm still very minded to not die yet... What helps me though is that the chip leader has twice the stack of the second place guy, so everyone's scared. I'm able to grind some pots. The big stack eliminates 2 opponents in one hand (including my lucky !# guy) and we're down to 3 players:
Me: 1 040
2nd place: 1 760
Big Stack: 6 220
I think that if I can double up, I'll be 2nd... The table is still pretty passive. I know that Big Stack respects me after seeing the bad beats I suffered earlier.
I have 8332 being the big blind and can see the flop: 633! Big stack puts the min. bet, I hesitate and call. 6 on the turn. Same thing happen (min. bet, call). River give us another 6. Big stack puts another 700. "Man... Can this guy have a quads too? His betting pattern could indicate just that" I just can't fold and go all-in. Call! He slowplayed AA all the way... Phew!
Me: 2 180
Big Stack: 5 180
3rd place: 1 640
Still a long way to go...
The low stack is definitely too passive and ends up eliminated by Big Stack 7-8 hands later.
Goal reached! I'm in the money:
Me: 2 090
Big stack: 6 910
Few hands later:

Yipee!!! The tournament didn't cost me a single penny and my Everest account went from 0 to 4.20$!
Storyline: If you NEVER give up, a come back is always possible."
I ask myself, 7 years later, does the buy-in has any importance for the readers? Do you think a players is worth less because he's playing lower limits?
