I think it was a good fold but a late one. What I mean is to ask the question why did he call you. When the flop is 9 9 5 there are a few options he has AK, AA, QQ, KK, JJ or TT. In all of these situations most of the players are too blind to see the flop and they will call or even raise. BUT he didn't raise you pre-flop so you can assume he doesn't have a pocket pair. So he limped to your raise. Most probably he did it with A9 or A5. Even if he entered the pot with AQ you were still doomed at the end. Or if he entered with 910s and he slow played you. Anyway the range of hands that are better than yours is vast. So the best thing you could do was to fold on the turn since there was no 7 and you still tried to win the pot.

I am checking the turn as he limped and has everything in his range especially J9s - A9 s
Highly unlikely he has any premium pair
or it quite possible he has QAs , JAs , AKs etc and thought u are bluffing which explains his calls on both Flop & turn

considering how action went on this hand , I wont say fold on river is bad idea but i am calling as i have reason to believe he could bluff me and it quite possible he holds a pair of fives

KJ, KQ, QJ, 9 something or a bluff.

No stats on you or your opponent so I can't really make a fair guess.
More than likely I would have called river only a few hands make sense.

Raising 77 in EP in the long run is prob -EV... I still like to raise with it... but after his gallon the flop, I think it may be time to slow down and pot control.

Check turn, get a free river card... re-evaluate on the river.

Also, raising pre 2x the bb is what most do, but raise 2.5 or 3 in these small stakes would prob be better...

good luck
