I wholeheartedly disagree that PLO tourneys are too high variance...if done properly they can have much more standard swings than in PLO cash.
The main difference in the way you should approach tourneys compared to cash is we're now 100% reliant on position...as opposed to only being around 75% reliant in cash games (if that makes sense). In position we're now playing hands to see flops, possibly for small raises to establish the initiative in the pot...and we gain more from taking little stabs at the flop/turn/river because players are generally tighter in a tournament structure than in a cash atmosphere.
