So this is at the micro level of 1.20 and 2.25 on ftp. I play 9 man sngs.
(casual-serious player) (no funds to re-deposit)

Background:
I've been 4 tabling 1.20 9 mans for 700 games or so and I've also read about rake being a profit killer at this level. I have about 50 buy ins for 1.20 at this point. I feel like i'm basically at a plateau and also feel that i'm making the correct decisions.

- Would it be a bad idea to do 3 tables of 1.20 and 1 table of 2.25?
- level of play the same 1.20 vs 2.25?
- should i just go ahead and 2-table 2.25s now (I have 30 buy ins, but I'd rather not risk downswings)

suggestions/experiences

1- yes
2- yes
3- no

I'd suggest getting onto rakeback (I see you play FTP so RakebackPros is your best option) and staying at the 1.20 level with the bankroll you are working with.

It's easy to go on a long downswing with micro STT's. I know because I mostly play $2 STT and $2-$5 MTT. Playing two tables could increase the tilt factor if the going gets rough, and you don't have enough of a cusion to be moving up, let alone playing 2 tables at the higher level.

Do you have your distribution stats for those 700 games? Like the number of 1st's 2nd's and 3rd's. If you have those figures i can input them into a ROI simulator to see what sort of ROI you can expect. To even get past breakeven you need to be posting some really good numbers. In essence playing the 1.20's long term is like setting fire to a pile of money. So i'd suggest either depositing more so your rolled for the 2's, or use a more aggressive bankroll management. Either that or playing some of the sub $1 Mtt's with no rake. Stars has a 25cent 45 man with no rake for example.

I'd just use more aggressive bankroll management at the $2's, the rake is better and the play is really no different. As long as you've learned how to adjust to loose players you should be doing about the same in terms of your finishes, but your ROI will go up because of the rake.

When I was playing them there was a small jump in skill from the $1s to the $2s, but it was definitely small.

What's your ROI like in the $1s?

thanks for the replies.

so first off I went ahead and applied for rakebackpros. I'm not sure if it's in effect yet.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sample Analysis:

3% roi, set = 4 tabling 1.20 sngs.
so that means in this sample i make 0.03 per sng, so i profit 0.12 a set.

2 sets a day at 4 days a week = 8 sets. so .96 cents a week

If i understand rakeback, i play 32 games a week at .20 juice = 6.40
27% of 6.4 = 1.72 dollars rakeback

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
theoretically:
@32 sngs a week (8 sets/4 days a week) --> 1.72 + 0.96 = 2.68 a week
@56 sngs a week (14 sets/ 7 days a week)--> 3.02 + 1.68 = 4.70 a week

1 1/2 hrs per set so I usually have time for 2 sets a day.

that was fun.

How did you get that huge leap from - $50 to + $50 after you played 1000 games?
