This may seem like a silly question to some but I'm wondering if it's advisable to play both SNG's and MTT's online at the same time?

I've started on a downswing lately. While I have indeed been running bad it just so happens that the onset occurred the same week I started playing MTT's more along with the SNG's. I'm curious if this is to blame because the strategies are very different..

Downswings happen. Try to play a low variance style until you are past the funk. I play these both but it's a personal preference.
Downswings happen most when learning something new...

you need more BR to play it the same time, like 300 + bb for tournaments + 80 bb for SNG's , but I think it's nice idea. because you will play more tabbles and play quickly distance

Yes its playable both sng/mtt. I dont know how much you play tables , but example you can play 3 table mtt and 7 table sng..

I believe that it is necessary to have more sng tables , because in sng not many postflop game and more preflop decisions , in mtt the opposite more postflop game and lesss preflop,,,

I get that. I'm just thinking that possibly I'm bringing some of it on myself..

@ horizon and abz

I wasn't sure if this was common practice or not, thanks. I enjoy the mtts more because they're new and there's more plays to be made. I've definitely been showing a little favoritism attention wise. Gotta control that..

it is pretty common practice to Play both mtt n sng together.. but depends upon your roll .. if you running bad at the Moment , better to concentrate on low varience sng and get back into winning ways before trying mtt .. consistent win ll give loads of confidence

I play both SnGs & MTTs at the same time. It becomes confusing though when you become short handed at each table :(

SNG is better than MTT.If to play MTT you should play sunday storm or sunday millions and other tourneys with high limits, it is better if you want to play multi table tournaments.

Yeah, I was thinking that playing both was causing me a problem but I think its just me running bad. I've been focusing only on the SNG's the past 3 days and it's been no bueno still. Hopefully it turns soon, it's been this way the past two weeks and it's destroying my confidence.

I think it's easier short handed. At least then the strategies are more similar.

I don't really have the roll to play high limit MTT's at the moment. Also, I'm in the U.S. so no Sunday millions for me :(

dpends on your poker goals. if you want to make good long term profit then pick your fav game type study the hell out of it and learn how to win at a specific formst long term.

if that isnt the case then do whatever you like mix cash tourney and sng while watching movies. you can do it. but being profitable in all types is another story...

To blame you as for me , in that case what strategies different one on improving more. in MTT need to pay more attention to the players at the table, because you are with them at the table will be much longer than in S&G, but they have play mostly skellam, not really thinking about the players, well, the main problem for multi-table TILT, departure for a couple of tables, especially in a row affects the others, bad game wrong decision.

The goal is definitely to be as profitable as possible all in all. What I mean is SNG's are my bread and butter but there's not a enough tables at high stakes on bovada for me to justify moving up in stakes past where I am. So bringing my MTT game up to speed is another goal of mine. If it costs me some money in the short run but pays more in the end I'm obviously fine with that.
