Hi All
I need a little advice on the best way to play mid pocket pairs from Early to Mid Positions ( 5's - 10's)
I normally do as follows.
Any advice is welcome
Early Tournament - Raise them up 2.5 - 3 x blinds and if I receive a caller and the flop comes down with a broadway card, play with caution, maybe check call or if its checked back bet out on the turn dependant on it not being another higher card than what I am holding again maybe look to check call to get to a cheap show down, or if there is aggression on a high card board let them go.
Mid stages
A bit like early stages, but try to use more agression when there is weakness shown.
Late stages
- I play them more aggressivley and try to represent stronger holding than I usally have, as I normally try to build up a solid rep that I can use to my advantage in later stages of a comp.
Any advice is greatly rec'd
Comps I play live range from £30.00 - £100.00 buy in's

Early- when I open the pot, I limp in with low pairs, raise with medium and high pairs.
Mid - when I open all pairs are for a raise.
Late - same as mid

When it is opened before me

Early- call if I have the right pot odds and implied odds with small and medium pairs, 3 bet or call with big pairs
Mid - try to 3bet if the stack sizes are right, fold if not with the small and medium pairs. 3bet or call with big pairs depending on my image and the opponents
Late - calling is usually wrong. 3bet or fold

Don't play small pp early position if you are not comfortable playing them post flop. Just make your life easier and don't play them.
As for mid pp's it's really all opponent/board texture dependant just be happier to shut down post flop if you face any aggression when u miss your set

Don't open limp in early position especially with small pocket pairs. As soon as somebody raises in late position you will be playing out of position with an easily dominated hand.

I think if your ever first into pot you should raise(whatever you've been raising previously), and what ever flop is you should C bet. So if your not going to play after you don't hit you should fold and save your blinds.

Cheers guys, I have gotten a better Idea on what I need to do with small / medium pocket pairs, I always thought you had to play them pretty much everytime, but I guess mucking everynow and then is okay. Dependant on action / position etc.
Looking forward to my next tourney
