I am in search of material about playing in multiway limped pots. Any videos, reading, advice, etc. For the most part I try to avoid entering into these situations unless I am holding a premium hand or I have info on one of the limpers. This situtation seems to happen quite frequently in the low buyin tournaments that my bankroll allows me to enter comfortably. You read everywhere about the negative issues with open limping but it does not deter those in the lower buyin tourneys. I also know that "never limping" is ambiguous because every situation at the poker table is different with regards to table dynamics, villans, ranges, etc. Just looking for a solid foundation of information on this particular situation and what is thought about them.

You have to be careful with making generalizations in poker. Yes, its a loser to limp, but that is a general statement. There are many times it is profitable to limp.

For example, if you have several different villains limping and you have a small/mid pair or a weak suited ace, this can be a situation that can be profitable.

My point is there are hands that are too weak to squeeze when a lot of people limp but can hammer a flop. When doing this, you have to always keep in mind WHY you are limping. Limping with A6s and hitting an ace is not what you are looking for.

In the long run limping costs you money. In one hand, you can do really well if you are playing the correct hands.

obviously if ur opponts limp in to see cheap flops and over inflate the pot on turn and river then you wanna get a hand that will do well like small - middle pairs,
know when your hand could be dangerous
and especially in tournaments dont see too many hands, if your limping too often to catch out your opposition then your chips will dwindle before you hit and will be hitting to get your stack back

so just make sure your playing the tournaments correctly, play in position so you can decipher when you are beat

I think a lot of people play limps with semi-weak hands 89s,55... you are basicaly set/flush/fullhouse mining and it is proffitable for you as you are in a big pot for cheap and with an abillity to get something good.
With strong hands you should raise for exactly this reason, as in multi pot your AA can be steamrolled with 56s that caught something good. Calling with semi-weak hands is not profitable in the liong run so it preasurres your ops to make bad calls that you can make money on.

PS. This i a general assesment and not a rule. you have to adjust to your ops. 3.5bb raiseing and geting 3-beted buy nit can be bad with QQ as you are against a strong range that include ATs+, on the other hands if your op is a loose-station raiseing small is basically throwing your possible money away.
