I love to have a maniac in a cash table but Im having trouble when I sit with a maniac at a tournament table especially early when he's playing every single hand and pushing all in preflop or at the flop ..forcing everyone to gamble with him.....happen more in rebuys ...what advice do you have when you notice this behaviour early in the tournament?

Find a spot where your hand is better than his perceived range (if they're playing every hand then a top 20% will do) and jam it.

If it's a rebuy, you should be playing within your limits, so gamble it up and take those chips for yourself.

In a rebuy

I love to have a maniac in a cash table but Im having trouble when I sit with a maniac at a tournament table especially early when he's playing every single hand and pushing all in preflop or at the flop ..forcing everyone to gamble with him.....happen more in rebuys ...what advice do you have when you notice this behaviour early in the tournament?

This advice is for rebuys and rebuys only take it or leave it. It works for me. Remember when entering a rebuy you need to make a choice of how much you are willing to invest. Do not enter a rebuy thinking 1 buy in and 1 add on. That quite simply most often will only cost you your buy in period.I will not enter a rebuy without having. 7 buy ins. If I lose that I am gone.

In a rebuy the thing I do is wait for two things to happen. The first is I have a playable hand i do not mean AK AQ pp or the likes if I happen to have them great if not my playable hands TO ME are any 2 suited any connectors 2 face cards the like. I usually will never play ace with 6789. Any ways the second thing that must happen is you get at least 2 other callers that means 4 all ins going to the flop. These maniacs as you call them. aggravate a lot of players, and in REBUYS they force you to gamble. I know I am the MANIAC. Always buy in with the 2 buy ins buying in with 1 is a waste of a winning hand. When I am utg with a playable hand I raise and wait to see what the table does. Hopefully I have aggravated them enough by that time I get a couple of callers optimally a raiser If i get a raiser I reraise all in. Remember you must frazzle your table first get them to hate you. Losing the first all in has its advantages believe me When they see that you shoved all in with 45 of clubs. Next time you shove the whole dam table will call. The second time you shove make sure you have a hand a real hand. you only have 2 more shots at getting what you want. What you want is this, to be in a position after the last add on to be in no worse than 20th place. usually winning an all in with 2 other callers will achieve this. When the rebuys stop play as tight as you have ever played in your life. Steal blinds in position fold your sb if necessary.
If you do what I just explained when the rebuys stop you are either in position to play a game with abundant chips and not worry about blinding out,or you have lost your 6 buy ins and are out. The 7th buy in was not needed because it was add on money
This is the way I play it is my style and I'm sure a lot of people will say it is wrong but believe me it works for me.

my question is, why play a rebuy if it's not your preferred game?

from there, you have to determine whether the player is a nit or someone who is experienced with rebuys and is willing to rebuy a few times, if nec., b/c they have a successful track record playing like a maniac early

the nit would have a wider range of hands ... the playa is still gonna have some kinda hand, since there arent any blinds to steal that early ... so put them on a range and go from there

wait to see what the maniacs like and wait for your turn... it might be horrible waiting but patience is a virtue and you will get them

If its a rebuy just take the gambol :)

If its a freezout, generally in early stages you are deep enough to try to bink a hand, otherwise just play a 20% range if your HU for stacks pre if you can.
