everyone knows that playing JJ and 1010 can be difficult at the best of times. I'm wondering just how hard to push these preflop in freeroll or small buy-in multi-table tournaments in order to at least try and protect what is likely the best hand going in. Alternatively perhaps it is better to be passive until the flop then get paid off even better by the K/x and A/x that will most likely follow regardless?

It all depends on many factors: which stage, where you sit, what opponents, how many blinds you have left and much more! For these cards there is no identical action!

totally in agreement with diadiavalik you must see all those factors and also you have to see that a freeroll is not equal to a paid tournament and I say it in the way it is played, in the free ones you can bet everything with a JJ without matter the position in which this or anything like that

I would shove in a freeroll. If I'm paying for the game I just play as usual.

In a freeroll maybe I go all in, to try to double my stack, if it is a tournament with a small entry, it depends on the location, for example if I have 30BB increase X3 or X4, it depends on the position, I have 16BB I go all in for try to double my stack.

Many factors here: Your efective stack, position, numbers of players on table, how many raises before your action, profile of your opponent, table historic.

Poker is not a exact science, but you can get the approximate result of the correct one.

Read the situation no matter what type of game you are playing.

What is the harm in raising these hands and deciding whether you are beat or strong post flop?

You can always push all in pre-flop and end up getting beat, no matter your holding.

I would recommend learning to play your opponent and the situation.

Most of the time in freerolls I push all in preflop with any premium cards early in the tournament. (66+, AJ+)

The key here is early in the tournament when weaker players behind you will have calling ranges much wider than later in the tournament. (anything suited, like Q7s for example)

If you lose, oh well it was free try the next one. But 80-90% of the time I get called i'm ahead, then it's just about holding the 70/30 or 60/40 flip for a double up
